Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has described as laughable, the allegation by former Governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu, that he (the Governor) is planning to print and paste the latter’s presidential posters.
The chief press secretary to Abia state Governor, Mr.Ugochukwu Emezue in a statement in Umuahia on Sunday, said that the Abia state government cannot waste the scarce resources that are being used to build legacy projects to print the poster of a failure.
The spokesman hinted that Kalu’s antics are well known to Nigerians and that is why he is a political leper and a desperate man who is capable of doing anything to seek relevance and sympathy.
Emezue stated that Kalu who wasted the state’s fund during his tenure was being intimidated by Orji’s outstanding achievements, hence his desperate move to distract the resilient Governor of Abia state.
The statement added that Kalu should rather pay more attention to the allegations of corruption levelled against him by EFCC.
The two men, who were once close allies, fell apart not long after the Governor, the Chief of Staff during the administration of Orji Kalu, succeeded his boss in 2007.
Many political watchers attribute the ongoing intrigues to the next general election. Orji is reportedly planning to return to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and both leaders are keen to have their loyalists take over the government house in 2015. They are also bent on having a solid grip on the machinery of the state political structures and the grassroots.
