2015: Urhobo union seeks alliance with ACF

by Ismail Mudashir, Kaduna

Members of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) led by General Patrick N. Aziza yesterday met with the leadership of Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF) in Kaduna and sought for the forum’s support and cooperation ahead of the 2015 election.
The members of the UPU numbering 20 immediately after the opening ceremony told chairman of the ACF Alhaji Aliko Mohammad that they wanted to have a closed door meeting with the leadership of the forum. The chairman granted their prayers and pressmen were excused out of the venue. The closed door meeting lasted many hours.
During the meeting, Daily Trust gathered, the leadership of the two bodies talked extensively on 2015. The meeting was attended by many ACF members. Speaking during the opening ceremony, President of UPU, General Patrick Newton Aziza (rtd) faulted the present political arrangement in the country whereby winners take all.
“As a people, we believe in democracy and good governance. Culturally and socio- politically, our people are democrats. The essence of good governance is to organise resources of states in such way as to dispense the greatest benefit to the greatest number of people. Any leadership that does anything to the contrary is not worthy of any support”, he said.
ACF Chairman Alhaji Aliko Mohammad thanked the union for their visit. In his remark, National Publicity Secretary of ACF Anthony Sani said the visit of UPU was a good omen.
