Another ‘executive war’ averted as Okorocha, Obi clash again

By

What would have been termed an ‘executive clash’ was Sunday averted by His Grace, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna of Owerri Archdiocese when Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha nearly exchanged blows over seating arrangement.
The drama, we learnt erupted at the blessing ceremony of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Catholic Church built by the Chairman of Zinox Computers Limited, Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, at Amauburu Ubomiri in Mbailitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that Governor Obi, who arrived the church venue before Okorocha, had unknowingly taken a seat reserved for Owelle by one of his aides.
It took the intervention of Rev. Obinna to bring situation under control when the ‘war of words’ broke out between the duo on who should occupy the seat.
The cleric said that seat should not be reserved in the House of God for anybody, stating that Obi who arrived early should be allowed to occupy the front row.
The Archbishop called on the need for Governors and other political players in the country to always live exemplary lives.
While advising them to emulate the biblical Nehemiah to make sure that the resources left in their care are sensibly used for the betterment of the society, the cleric added that their leadership should provide security, peace and employment to the people at the grassroots.
Rev. Obinna condemned the ceaseless killings and kidnapping in the country, especially in the northern region, stressing that leaders should be agents of development and peace to their people.
It would be recalled that similar incident happened between the two eastern Governors sometime last year when Governor Rochas Okorocha punched a protocol officer who refused to allow him sit on a chair reserved for the Anambra State Governor at the 80th birthday celebration of former vice president, Chief Alex Ekwueme, in Enugu.
