Etisalat Subscriber Base Hits 15 Million

Dubai based GSM service provider, Etisalat, has announced that its subscriber base in the Country has increased to 15 million, signalling a remarkable improvement in its drive to be a key player in the fast growing mobile Industry.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Mr Steve Evans had succeeded in hitting the mark of about 15 percent of the Nigerian mobile market share, a great achievement for a company that came into the Nation four years ago.
He believed it was enough reason for the Company to be regarded as a phenomenal and innovation driven mobile technology firm in the globe. The company can now admit this success, considering the fact that it came late into a highly competitive market.

Mr Evans said “At the beginning of 2012, we were moving towards 11 million subscribers. Now, 12 months later, we have added four million active subscribers to our base; this is a phenomenal achievement.”
Recent data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission on the mobile technology market in Nigeria and the subscriber base revealed a surge in the figures from about 100 million to 105 million subscribers.
With the landmark recorded by Etisalat, the Arab firm will be determined to reposition itself in 2013 to create more impact in the Telecoms sector, with a view to wooing more Nigerian subscribers. This will also be a wake up call for firms like Indian based Bharti Airtel.
