Lupe Fiasco Sent Off Stage For Anti-Obama Rap At Inaugural Concert

Screen Shot 2013Wasalu Muhammad Jaco popularly known as Lupe Fiasco, was thrown off stage at an Obama Inauguration party on Sunday in Washington D.C after he delved into an anti-Obama rap song during his set.
It is not clear why Lupe was booked as one of the headlining acts for the StartUp RockOn event in celebration of Obama’s inauguration, as he has been known to be a vocal critic of Mr. Barack Obama. The rapper had once taken to air on a radio station in Philadelphia to lament the president’s use of drones in overseas combat.
He said: “On one hand, you have someone who is a great speaker, but kills little children – our President…ordering drone attacks that go and kill mothers, innocent bystanders, children”.
Lupe used his spot on the StartUp RockOn event to premiere a 30 minute anti-war track, and was eventually forced off stage by venue security. Here’s what he said:
“Limbaugh is a racist / Glenn Beck is a racist / Gaza Strip was getting bombed/ Obama didn’t say s— / That’s why I ain’t vote for him / next one, either / I’m part of the problem / my problem is I’m peaceful”
Next thing you know, Lupe’s mic went silent and he was still singing before the lights on stage went out. He refused to leave so a team of security came up stage and asked him to go but not before he smiled, took a bow and made a hand gesture amid chants of his name.
Meanwhile, The show’s organisers have claimed that Lupe was turfed off for reasons of taste, rather than because of any political bad blood:
“Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant. We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”
