“Nigeria has quick players, they should not be under pressure in South Africa” – Afonso

By

Uche_FarenseAfter watching his Farense team lose heavily to the Super Eagles on Tuesday, the coach of the Portuguese second tier club, Antero Afonso, says the Nigerian team can go ahead and win the Africa Cup of Nations.
Afonso said his team had picked up valuable lessons in the 5-0 loss and from the quality of players at Stephen Keshi’s disposal, they will do well in South Africa.
“You have what it takes to win the championship, but you must take each game as it comes and adopt different styles for different opposition,” he said.
“You have very quick players, so don’t allow yourself to be under pressure at any time in the tournament.
“I may not know the teams that will be at the tournament, but the team I saw today should be among the favourites to win the African Cup.”
The Nigerian team is expected to leave Faro for Lisbon, where they will connect a flight to Paris, France and then fly to to Johannesburg, South Africa.
