Police foil bank robbery in Lagos State

Lagos state Police command are living up to expectation as they foiled a bank robbery on Sunday due to their quick response to a distress call.
The 12-man robbery gang who attempted to break into the Elemoro branch of one of the first generation banks, along Epe road, Lagos were faced by men of the Police force who engaged them in a shoot out.
When the armed robbers saw that they could not win the battle, they reportedly fled the scene, abandoning their operational vehicle and house breaking equipment.
DailyPost gathered that the armed robbers stormed the bank at about 2am and scaled into the compound through
the fence. They were said to have been at the verge of breaking the Automated Teller Machine, ATM when policemen from Elemoro, led by the Area J Commander, Mr Felix Vwamhi, who received a distress call, swooped on them, leading to the gun duel.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said the robbers “bowed to the superior fire of the policemen. Some of them escaped with bullet wounds.
“At the end of the shoot- out, two AK 47 riffles, cutlasses, gas cylinders with which they intended to use in breaking the ATM machine were recovered. Also recovered was their operational vehicle, a Sienna space bus,” she said.
