Teenage Girl Raped And Impregnated By Her Teachers

Police have arrested two science teachers at the local High School, who allegedly raped a 17-year-old Form Four pupil resulting in her getting pregnant.
Munorwei Mahlengwe and Paul Rugede allegedly raped the pupil on separate occasions in one of the school's laboratories.

Both teachers, who are facing the same charge, that of rape, are also being held responsible for the pregnancy, as it is difficult to tell who exactly was responsible for impregnating the girl.

Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, which occurred in May last year.

"I can confirm that the police are investigating a case of rape in which a 17-year-old girl, who is a pupil at Kwekwe High School, was allegedly raped by her two teachers on different occasions resulting in her becoming pregnant. It is alleged that on 8 May last year at about 2pm, Mahlengwe, a science teacher at Kwekwe High School, called the pupil to the laboratory. The teacher was insisting that she should complete her homework. While inside the laboratory, the teacher removed his jacket and spread it on the floor. He ordered the girl to lie down, but she refused. Mahlengwe then grabbed the girl and raped her once. The pupil did not disclose the matter to anyone," he said.

Asst Insp Mahoko said on 18 May last year at about 3pm, the same pupil was again summoned to the science laboratory by Rugede, another science teacher at the same school. He said the pupil complied and when she got to the laboratory, Rugede locked the door and started pulling down the girl's dress.

"Rugede went on to rape the girl once. Again, the girl did not report the matter to anyone. On New Year's Day, the girl's mother noticed some physical changes on her daughter and began suspecting that the girl could be pregnant. She took her to the hospital for a scan and it was confirmed that the girl was seven months pregnant," Police revealed.

The acting Midlands police spokesperson said the mother questioned her daughter about the pregnancy and she related the whole story. He said the mother later reported the matter at Kwekwe Central Police Station.

"Both suspects were arrested last Friday and are assisting police with their investigations. They are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of rape.
