The “private jet” rush – More private jet manufacturers jostle for Nigeria’s market

We had earlier shared news about how Nigeria has quickly become one of the world’s fastest growing markets for private jets. The rush for the Nigerian private jet market shows no sign of slowing down as even more global private jet manufacturers have continued to enter the market with their aircrafts.
Cessna Incorporation of United States recently arrived Nigeria, to display its fleet soon after a similar excursion by Dassault Aviation, a French private jet manufacturer. The company has been reportedly showing off its its Cessna Citation Jet 3 and Cessna Sovereign aircrafts in Lagos and Abuja.
The aircraft was brought into Nigeria by Jet Alliance, an  Austria-based company that works in close conjunction with Nigeria’s Airfirst Limited.
Meanwhile, global private jet manufacturer, Bombadier recently revealed that up to 35 Bombardier-made business aircraft currently fly in/from Nigeria’s airspace and anticipates more room for growth.
On the rising growth in the sector, aviation sector analyst, Olumide Ohunayo weighs in on the trend saying: “The economy is expanding with increasing investments within the country and the region. This will invariably necessitate instantaneous travel that scheduled airlines cannot provide.”
Given the recent spike in private jet ownership in the country, Nigeria’s aviation ministry has vowed to tighten regulation around maintenance and conduct by private jet owners in the country.
The ministry anticipates that the country will have even more private jet owners by 2014.
