PDP tackles Bakare over Mimiko’s endorsement

The Senior Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and vice-presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 general election, Pastor Tunde Bakare, seems to have stirred the hornet’s nest with his endorsement of the second term ambition of Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state.
Bakare had said on Sunday in Lagos predicted that Mimiko would win by a landslide victory in the October 20 governorship election in the State.
But the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said the cleric was only expressing his wish which ignored the strong desire of the people of the state for change.
Reacting through its Deputy Director of Publicity, Rotimi Ogunleye, the Olusola Oke Campaign Organization (OOCO) described Bakare as a bad representative of the Christendom who has soiled his garment with politics.
Ogunleye questioned the basis of the prediction of Bakare that the victory of Mimiko would usher in a new wave of leadership in the South-West when the people of Ondo state had not achieved any iota of real development in the last three and half years of his government.
He said: “Pastor Bakare was merely expressing his wish which will have no effect on the October 20 governorship election in Ondo state. He has displayed his lack of understanding of the mood of the people of the state who are yawning for change. I would like him to come to the state and speak with the people who have been in the grip of excruciating pains in the last three and half years.
“The cleric has been an embarrassment to the Body of Christ. Instead of him to focus on tendering to his flock, he is busy playing nauseating politics. As he is a failed pastor, he is also a failed politician. None of his predictions has ever come to past which shows how far he is from God. If he could predict the victory of Mimiko in the forthcoming election in the state, why did he fail to foresee the failure of his party in 2011?
“We thank God Bakare did not become the Vice-President of this country. He would have been in constant disagreement with his boss, Mohammad Buhari, if the CPC had won the 2011 presidential election. He would not have been a loyal deputy. He does not seem to be on the same page with Buhari on the future of CPC.

“I practised governance” – Mimiko

The incumbent governor of Ondo State,Governor Olusegun Mimiko said he will be victorious in the October 20 gubernatorial election without doubt.
This statement was made when the Governor was addressing news men in Akure, the Ondo state Capital.
Mimiko said his administration had been able to create important synergy between the governed and the government by putting in place projects that will make the people see themselves as part of government.
He noted that he has taken governance from the theoretical to practical realm in his tenure as the governor of Ondo State, stating that many projects demanded by the people of the state have been delivered and over 500 communities are enjoying the dividends of democracy in the areas of health, agriculture, urban renewal and education which affect them directly.
Mimiko was delighted to say that “People now lobby to get their wards from private schools to our mega schools, and our Abiye project has entered the global health lexicon. Government is life, its living.
Here, you can have affordable health care without compromising quality”.
He asserted further that “Through our urban renewal programme, we have been able to take people from the streets and relocate them into better places. For instance,Akure has been transformed from a glorified village into a befitting city”.
The incumbent governor is contesting on the platform of Labour Party(LP) for the 20th October 2012 gubernatorial election.

Drama at Akure Airport as shout of ‘Ole’ ‘Ole’ forced Mimiko to make improptu U-turn

Do you remember these two pictures? The one on the right was taken when Goodluck Jonathan visited Ondo State to attend a PDP event in 2011. Governor Olusegun Mimiko quickly latched unto the opportunity to booster his political worth and relevance. The one on the left was taken yesterday when Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State visited Ondo State to campaign for the ACN candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu. Mimiko quickly latched on to the opportunity and his supporters promptly released the picture on socia media today claiming that Fashola had endorsed Mimiko. See the picture below.

DRAMA
A huge crowd of PDP supporters,  learning from previous experience of such opportunistic behaviour from Mimiko were however in no mood to tolerate such today at the Akure local airport.
Immediately Mimiko disembarked from his convoy and made towards receiving Vice President Namadi Sambo, the people suddenly realised that he was the one, without warning, the shout of ‘Ole’ ‘ole’, ‘Ole’ and several unprintable expletives spontaneously rented the air. The surging crowd also made towards him and he was last seen swiftly entering into his car and speeding off.
It was indeed a sight to behold.
A supporter of Mimiko went public on his wall earlier today proclaiming falsely that Fashola had endorsed Mimiko!

Tinubu needs deliverance from spirit of falsehood – S/West PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West has said that Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu must seek spiritual help for him to be delivered from the spirit of falsehood, saying; “It is embarrassing that someone of his status could lie over something as inconsequential as attendance of the United States Democratic Party Convention.”
The PDP, which also described the conflicting statements coming from Tinubu and the ACN Spokesperson, Lai Mohammed as a further show of how fraudulent and shameless the ACN people are, wondered whether Tinubu no longer trust Lai Mohammed, who said on Tuesday that he (Tinubu) paid $5,000 to get the invitation.
PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kayode Babade said in a release issued in Ibadan today that “Tinubu’s blatant falsehood on the Democratic Party invitation is a further pointer to the fact that there is a spirit of falsehood tormenting him, and he needs to be delivered from this evil spirit.”
While saying Tinubu’s claim that he was actually invited specially to the Democratic Party Convention as false, the PDP challenged him to publish his invitation letter with which he was invited as leader of opposition in Nigeria, adding that; “This is not a matter to be arguing back and front about. Rather, Tinubu should just go ahead and publish the letter which he was specially invited to the convention.”
The party also counselled Tinubu to go back to St. John Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, Government College, Ibadan and University of Chicago (or Chicago state University) for a replacement of the certificates he claimed got burnt in 1999, saying; “This is necessary so that he (Tinubu) won’t have to fill ‘not applicable’ again in his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) forms come 2015 as he did in 2003.”
“When a child that has access to everything from his parents still steals items as cheap as chewing gum, such a child is said to be suffering from the spirit of kleptomania.
“In the case of Tinubu, who has lied about everything, including his personality, we cannot but conclude that there is an evil spirit that is always urging him to lie, and the best those who love him can do is to encourage him to go for deliverance,” the PDP said.
While maintaining that Tinubu must apologise to Nigerians for bringing the country’s name into disrepute, the PDP said; “as we have said before, the most honourable thing for Tinubu and his ACN to do is to apologise to Nigerians for ridiculing the country with their lies of Tinubu’s invitation by Obama when in actual fact, the invitation was bought for $5,000.”

Mimiko Challenges Tinubu to Reveal Form of Assistance

Governor Olusegun Mimiko

By James Sowole
Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has challenged the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to open up over the much acclaimed assistance given to him before, during and after the election of 2007 that brought him to power as the governor.
Mimiko, who spoke at the palace of Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo, his hometown, also said he did not betray the former  governors of the state, Adebayo Adefarati, Olusegun Agagu or the former governor of Lagos State, Tinubu, as being claimed by his opponents.
“As for Tinubu, I challenge him to tell the whole world where and when he gave me money to contest election in 2007 or to prosecute my legal battle to reclaim my mandate.
“The only thing he did was that he brought a forensic experts but I paid for all their services including the cost of procuring all the materials they needed for their jobs and other logistics.

“Chief Wole Olanipekun, my lead counsel is alive. He is aware of everything that happened. The only thing that Tinubu did was that he claimed to have paid the professional fee of Adrian Forty (the forensic expert) but did not give details.
“Tinubu did not also negotiate with me on whether I will join his party after my legal victory. They asked me to join the Action Congress of Nigeria in 2010 and I said that my people are not willing to leave the LP.

“They are calling me all sorts of names because I failed to go against the wish of my people but I know that my conscience is clear because I did not offend Tinubu in anyway.
“I did my best to have a good working relationship with the ACN governors until they were dragging me to join their party at all cost,” he stated.
Mimiko said he was faithful, loyal and committed to all his bosses when he served under them as their Commissioner and Secretary to the State Government even when there was a grand conspiracy against him.
The Labour Party governorship candidate said he decided to clear the air on the misgivings and rumours against him at the palace of the Osemawe in his own dialect so that everybody will know that he was speaking the truth.
“I have sacrificially and faithfully served the people of Ondo State in the last three and half years to the best of my ability and heaven is my witness.
“That was exactly what I served at the Adefarati and Agagu administration. Anybody that is calling me a betrayal or an ingrate is ignorant of the true accounts of what happened between me, Adefarati and Agagu.
“I tried my best to serve the two of them as best as I could but things went wrong when fifth columnists infiltrated and they reneged on our solemn agreement which made me to leave their governments because I detested cheating”, Mimiko stated.
Meanwhile, the Rotimi Akeredolu Campaign Organisation (ACO) has described the statement credited to Mimiko that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is undemocratic having allegedly abandoned its presidential candidate in the last presidential election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, as not only untrue but also exists only in his imagination.
In a statement, ACO’s Director of Media, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, said it was unthinkable for anyone to imagine that ACN leadership could conspire against its presidential candidate after spending human and material resources campaigning for him all across the country.
He also said the fact that Nigerians voted for their choice of candidate in the last presidential election did not make ACN undemocratic, saying it only confirmed the liberal nature of ACN as a party.
Ajanaku said: “ACN is a democratic party to the core and we will not induce anybody to vote for the party.
The last presidential election was largely polarised along ethnic and religious divides and majority of the people of South-west voted for  Jonathan in person because they wanted to give the South-south, a minority group a chance to lead the country.”
