The 7 Most Common Reasons People Cheat

Cheating is one of the most guilt-ridden actions a person can partake in, and being cheated on is one of the most painful experiences a person can have.
So, why does it happen? Why would someone want to hurt someone like that? When you look at the underlying emotional issues behind cheating, nobody ever meant to hurt somebody else—they were just finding an unhealthy way to avoid their own pain. Here’s what I mean.
They’re looking for an escape from real life
Many people use romance and sex as an escape from real life. When with their boyfriend/fling/hookup buddy, real life things such as work, health issues or finances are not discussed. But, no relationship can go on for long without real life issues coming up. And that’s when many people, that use relationships as an escape, will look for someone new that won’t remind them of real life.
They want to be “new” again
Many people are addicted to being “new” to somebody. They like being mysterious, and having a person crave knowing more about them. But they like to keep a person in that state of craving. And obviously, as relationships progress, you can’t remain mysterious forever, or else you wouldn’t be able to get emotionally close. So, as soon as the mystery goes away for some people, so does the fidelity.
They want someone to be “new” to them again
Some people only want to know the facade of another person. A woman meets a man that is successful, has a great reputation, is on top of his game and she likes that. But, it turns out he himself is normal, with a crazy family, quirky habits and maybe some digestive issues. Some people value themselves based on the people they are with, and once they discover their partner is just ordinary, it takes a toll on their own ego. And they seek someone new and “exciting” to feed their ego again.
Co-dependency issues
Pretty much anybody that cheats struggles with some codependency issues. Think about it: cheating is the worst option, and if a person were comfortable and capable of being alone, they wouldn’t cheat. They would just say, “I’m not happy in this relationship” and spare their partner the pain of being cheated on. But, instead of facing the scary world of being single, they let their partner take the brunt and get cheated on.
Their current partner would fall apart
If left, the current partner would become deeply depressed, would have a mental breakdown, or might even do something to harm themselves or others. That is a very tough spot for the emotionally stable partner to be in. But, everybody wants happiness which is why someone with such an unstable partner, might look for love elsewhere, while still being a rock for their partner.
They aren’t getting enough attention from their partner
One partner becomes extremely busy with work, or perhaps taking care of a sick family member, and his or her relationship has fallen to the backburner. This is when the other partner might cheat because they are not getting that constant affirmation that they are an attractive, desirable, lovable person—all the things we usually get from a relationship.
Proximity:
There is a reason co-workers and classmates often fall in love: they bond over a common understanding of one another’s stresses, struggles, ambitions, dreams, and even schedules (they’re thrown together a lot because of their shared activity). Cheating with a co-worker is a verycommon type of cheating for this reason. A person may feel that their co-worker understands them much better than their partner does.

Farmers cry for help after losing hundreds of hectares in Delta, Edo flood

by Rachel Ogbu
Hundred hectares of yam and plantain farms have been destroyed by flood in three communities in Oshimili South and Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta.
The farmers and community leaders in flood affected areas of Edo and Delta States are now pleading for the Federal Government to urgently come to their aid.
The farmers owning over 800 hectares of destroyed farm lands said they want to commence their farming early for next planting season.
In neighbouring Edo State, over 350 hectares of cassava farm were destroyed by floods.
The affected communities in Delta are Oko-Amakom, Oko-Anala, and Oko-Ogbele in Oshimili South; and Abala Oshimili in Ndokwa.
A community leader in Oko-Amakom, Joe Opene, told a correspondent, who visited the areas, that about 800 hectares of farm lands were destroyed by the ravaging flood in the three communities. Opene explained that the major occupations of the people in the communities were farming and fishing.
“Our communities are known for farming yams, potatoes, plantain and cassava. As I am taking now, we don’t even have these crops to plant for the next farming season, because the flood destroyed all our farm produce. In fact, our people are crying out of hunger, since most of them returned from the camps and our major challenge now is hunger,” he said.
Another community Leader, in Oko-Anala, Paul Oranyeli, commended the State and the Federal Governments for assisting the flood victims by setting up relief camps.
Oranyeli, however, lamented the challenges being faced by the farmers, adding that the farmers lost both their farm produce and seedlings to the flood. He said the farmers can’t even prepare for the next planting season now, because all their seedlings and cassava stems have been destroyed by the flood.
The community leader appealed to the Federal and the State Governments to come to their aid by providing them funds and improved varieties of seedlings and cassava stem cuttings, to enable them prepare for the next farming season.
“As you can see, the next farming is drawing near and farmers are supposed to start preparing but all they need now is support from the government.
“This will go a long way in reducing hunger in the various communities,” Oranyeli said
The Edo North coordinator of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Abdulahi Mohammed, said in Auchi that the flood, which affected Etsako East and Etsako Central Local Government Areas of the state, caused serious damage to the council areas which were known for growing cassava, rice and yam.
The farmer lamented that most of the cassava farmland destroyed by the flood was almost at harvesting stage. He called on the State and Federal Governments to urgently map out strategies of ameliorating the suffering of the affected farmers.
Mohammed said the affected farmers would face a lot of pressure coping with losses because most of them borrowed money to farm. He, however, commended the efforts of the governments, individuals and organisations, for identifying with the flood victims, called for additional donations for the victims.
“The most important thing I think these people need now is assistance for them to go back to their normal business, which is farming. They need assistance in form of finance, farm inputs and implements. Government can make things happen fast because November and December are a good time for planting cassava,’’ the coordinator said.
The farmer also urged the Federal Government to reinvigorate its agriculture policy implementation, especially that on cassava.
He said that government policies on agriculture were good but they most often ended up on the pages of newspapers.
“If this new policy on cassava flour for bread is to work out well, then government must not only work with the farmers but plan with them as well,” Mohammed said.

LASTMA Bars Junior Officers From Arresting Traffic Offenders

AS part of measures to curb reported excesses on enforcement of the state’s traffic laws, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has ordered junior officers in its rank to stop arresting erring motor-cycle riders and motorists in the state forthwith.
The action is taken in a bid to checkmate aggressive enforcement of the state’s traffic law by LASTMA.
On the barring of junior LASTMA officers from enforcement of road traffic law, the General Manager of LASTMA, Engr. Babatunde Edu, gave the order in his address at a public forum on the Law, organised by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, at the weekend.
According to Edu, the move was a spontaneous measure to respond to the complaints against aggressive law enforcement by junior officers.
He urged the public to report any junior officer who victimises or harasses them, saying they have been stripped of the power to arrest.
While urging members of the public not to take laws into their hands when unlawfully arrested, Edu said the officers are to render assistance to the motorists in ensuring traffic laws are voluntarily complied with.
He charged members of the public to take note of the names of such officers, insisting that junior officers have been warned not to arrest again following the complaints of aggressive enforcement.
He said: “You can easily identify the junior officer with black epaulet on their shoulders; they cannot arrest, only the senior ones with red epaulets on their uniforms can arrest.
We have stopped the juniors from arresting motorists and Okada riders except during a joint operation. That is the extent we have gone in checkmating aggressive enforcement of the law”

‘Apostle Of The Most High’ Paraded For Molesting 8-Year Old Girl In Lagos

George Akinyele
An Ogun State-born ‘cleric,’ George Akinyele, was almost lynched by an angry mob for allegedly having carnal knowledge of an 8-year-old girl. However, Akinyele, who is said to be the shepherd in charge of one of the branches of a leading pentecostal church in the Ejigbo area of Lagos state, did not escape being beaten black and blue and paraded naked, by the mob.
The victim’s father, known as Baba Akeem narrated how the unfortunate sexual knowledge of his little child began: “About a month ago, we were shocked when our daughter, Elizabeth complained of virginal pains, saying that she was sexually abused by ‘Baba’, the name she calls Akinleye the neighbourhood pastor. Her descriptions of what transpired between her and Akinleye showed that she was actually raped.”
The father, who was visibly shocked and enraged, continued: “Angrily, I confronted the man. He accepted getting close to my daughter, but denied raping her; I knew he was lying. I almost got the Police involved, if not for the advice from neighbours to allow the sleeping dog lie. Surprisingly, barely a month later, I came back home from work, only for my daughter to start demanding for the type of drug I gave her in the past when ‘Baba’ abused her. I asked her why she needs it, but to my shock, she said ‘Baba’ abused her again. That was how I raised the alarm and took my daughter to the nearest hospital, for medical examination and possible treatment. This was after the hospital confirmed the abuse”, he alleged.
Akinyele who refers to himself as the ‘Apostle of the Most High’ during his early morning sermons in he area, defended himself thus: “We both live in the same environment, and the father is so close to me that sometimes I ask him for help which he always rendered. I’m innocent of this particular accusation-the recent one. The first time I was accused of raping her, I had gone to their house where I met the little girl working on her school assignment. I offered to help her with the assignment which she gave me and I later returned it to her. I don’t know why nobody believed me, I didn’t have sex with that girl”, he exonerated himself.
“This time around, she is saying that I ‘double crossed’ her at Somonu Animashaun Street and had sex with her again. How could I have done that? I wasn’t even at that area at the said time of the rape. Before God and man, I didn’t do anything to her this second time that I’m being accused.”
However following several threats, the preacher eventually admitted committing the ‘unholy act’ with the infant girl once.
Confirming Elizabeth’s rape, the resident doctor of the hospital where she was treated disclosed that, “she was brought here by her father and I can confirm she is okay now. I’m just appalled by how the accused man was treated. If care was not taken, he could have been lynched. I’m against jungle justice no matter the level of crime committed”, the doctor added.
If not for the timely arrival of policemen attached to the Ejigbo police station, the alleged child rapist could have been lynched after the mob heard him admit to the heinous and dastardly act.
The doctor however disclosed that due to the victim’s twin ailments of ulcer and diabetes, he couldn’t be detained for long and was subsequently released by the police on medical grounds.

Count number one of the charges read: “that you Henry Uhunmwagho on or about the 13th day of August, 2010 in Benin within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court did with intent to defraud obtained the sum of N300, 000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) from one Odion Princewill C. under the pretence that you were going to procure a United States of America Visa for him which you knew was false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006 and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act”.
Henry, a pastor with Church of God Mission, Suleja, Niger State, was arrested by the EFCC on the 11th May, 2012, following a petition by Godwin Ochai, a legal practitioner, on behalf of one Mr. Odom Princewill.
He was alleged to have collected the sum of One Million, Four Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand Naira (N1, 436,000) under false pretence to process a United States of American Visa for the petitioner but failed to do so.
Though he pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him in court, the accused had admitted in his statement to the EFCC that he collected the alleged money from the petitioner and gave it to one Eze Chucks ( now at large), to process the visa but failed to do so.
Princewill, in his petition against Henry, alleged that sometimes in 2010, he was introduced to the accused, by Rev. Uzor Onyekwere of the Church of God Mission, Benin. The petitioner alleged that the suspect claimed to know an in-law to the then Nigerian Ambassador to Canada and promised to help him secure a two-year visa to United States of America.
“I paid a total sum of one million, four hundred and thirty six thousand naira (N1, 436, 000) into Mr Henry’s Diamond Bank account, but the visa was not processed. At a point, he asked me to go to the Abuja International Airport and wait for the personal assistant to the Nigerian Ambassador to Canada whom I will be travelling with, but I did not see anybody when I got there. I tried to call Henry, but his phone was switched off,” Princewill said
The defence counsel, Pius Ezeh moved the oral application for bail but was opposed by the prosecution counsel, Chioma Okongwu. Justice Ajoku in her ruling said the defence counsel did not present anything before the court to show why the accused should be granted bail.
She adjourned the matter to 29th November, 2012 for hearing on the bail application and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

Cracks widen over CPC/ACN merger plans •Atiku, Ribadu begin alliance talks

by Taiwo Adisa
alt
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari
A huge crack has crept into the ranks of the leaders of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) over the planned merger with the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN), sources in the political circles have said.
The division, has continued to fester even after the Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting attended by the party’s founder, General Muhammadu Buhari last week, where the merger plans were discussed.
Sources at a meeting of the party held at the instance of a chieftain of the party, Dr. Sule Hamman in Abuja on November 4 confirmed details of the cold war between el-Rufai-led CPC Renewal Committee and the party’s National Secretary Buba Galadima, which is said to be threatening to tear the CPC into shreds.
It was gathered that the division has affected the running of the party as General Buhari  and the party’s National Chairman, Prince Tony Momoh are also believed to be siding with the El-Rufai camp.
It was gathered that Momoh and El-Rufai have teamed up to champion the need for the CPC to merge with the ACN in order to guarantee itself of any positive electoral fortunes in 2015.
Hamman, who briefed the Abuja meeting was said to have told his colleagues in the party that el-Rufai and Momoh appeared to be leading the party into a blind agreement with the ACN.
The meeting was told that information at the disposal of top party men indicated that El-Rufai and Momoh have joined forces to continue to clamour for a CPC/ACN merger and that the plot to foist a merger on the party must have informed the long delay in holding the BOT meeting.
There is the belief that a lot of people are of the view that without concluding the CPC merger with the ACN and other parties the CPC will not succeed in its future electoral expectations.”
Sources however stated that members of the CPC have been cautioned to down play the division such that the party will not be eventually consumed by the rift.
It was learnt that Galadima’s grouse is that both El-Rufa and Momoh who are championing merger with the ACN have not shown a good understanding of the politics of the South West and what the source called the hypocrisy of the ACN.
Meanwhile, it emerged at the weekend that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu  have opened talks on a possible working arrangement ahead of the 2015 general election.
Ribadu, who was the Presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) in the April 2011 election was said to have visited the former number two man in the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo last week.
Sources in the know confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune that the former EFCC boss shortly after he submitted the report of the Presidential Committee on Oil sector Revenue to President Goodluck Jonathan last week visited Atiku at his Abuja residence where talks of a possible alliance between the camps of the duo were explored.
Although a source described the meeting as a peace meeting, it was gathered that the duo opened an avenue on the way forward.
According to a source, Ribadu has since discovered that the camp of President Goodluck Jonathan may not be too keen on drafting him into the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that the time has come for him to forge ahead with his political career.
It was gathered that Ribadu is set to formally dump the ACN, the party that fielded him as a candidate in the 2011 election once he could fashion out a workable arrangement with an experienced political figure like Atiku.
Head of Atiku media office, Alhaji Garba Shehu confirmed on Sunday that the duo had agreed to work together for the good of Nigeria.
He said: “It is true there was meeting. They have reconciled and forgiven one another. Itis their hope to work together for the benefit of the nation.”
