The Police in Port Harcourt are on the trail of the duo, after they received the sum of N1.7 million from popular show organiser, Opa Williams. The fee was for Iyanya to perform at two Nite of a Thousand Laughter shows in Port Harcourt and Benin.
The singer missed both shows, even after travelling to Port Harcourt, along with rapper Olamide and comedian Bovi, on a flight paid for by the organisers.
“We were all disappointed, we waited in vain. As soon as Bovi announced he was not going to show up, everybody started leaving,” a guest who attended the event held at the Hotel Presidential said.
On Wednesday morning, policemen from the Mile 3 division invited both Iyanya and Franklin over the issue, which had be lodged by Opa Williams.
Franklin confirmed that he made himself available at the station.
“Yes I was at the Police Station this morning, we have decided to return all money paid to us, it’s not a problem,” Ubi-Franklin told NET.
He also gave his own account of what really happened.
“We were paid to attend and perform at the Benin and Port Harcourt shows but we missed both due to reasons beyond our control. We missed the Benin gig because we were in Ghana as at that time and we arrived pretty late for the PH gig. We however had issues with initial payment from the show organizers also.”
