by Rachel Ogbu

Fatoke Abiodun, a guitarist who worked with King Sunny Ade for 30 years was arrested on January 1, 2013 for allegedly attempting to smuggle 1.575kg of cocaine to Italy.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) found the drug in the false bottom of his luggage during the outward screening of passengers to Italy
According to NDLEA Commander for the Lagos Airport, Hamza Umar, Abiodun was attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. “We have made the first arrest in the new year. The suspect, a guitarist by name Fatoke Abiodun was found with 1.575kg of cocaine,” Umar said.
“I played for King Sunny Ade for 30 years before I was unceremoniously retired in 2007. I was unprepared and without severance money I saw the bitter side of life…Because at my age I could not provide for my family. I am ashamed of myself,” Abiodun allegedly said.
62-year-old Abiodun has 4 wives, children and grandchildren. He will be charged to court for unlawful exportation and possession of narcotics. He is currently cooperating with investigators and has confessed to the crime and blamed his involvement in the drug trade on financial pressure after retirement.

“United or City will win the title, Arsenal will not make top four” – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he would love the stability that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, enjoys at the club but he however stated that the lack of pressure to win trophies could cost the English club a place in the top four.
The Gunners have not won a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup triumph and although Real Madrid trail rivals Barcelona by 16 points, Mourinho insisted that it is pressure to win trophies that is his driving force.
“I would love to have [Wenger's] stability at a club,” he told The Sun.
“But at the same time I think for my mentality I also need the pressure to succeed – and if no one imposes that pressure on me then I would impose that pressure on myself.
“The pressure to win things. Yes it’s possible to be one or two seasons building for the future and not being at the level to win things, but no longer, because my mentality is I always need the pressure of winning things.
“Maybe it could happen soon for Arsenal. They play good football and produce good players.
“They’re always buying players in every transfer window so surely sooner or later they should do something, should win something.”
The Portuguese, who is rumoured to be leaving Spain in the summer, however went ahead to predict the teams that will finish in the top four in England.
“So far this season Arsenal have been up and down – they’re good and not so good.
“They are not in the top four but they have always finished in the top four so you can say ‘Why not again this season?’ But it will be tough. They will be fighting with Tottenham, Chelsea and Everton so it will be very difficult.
“Tottenham has a fantastic squad, some brilliant players – some of the best in the Premier League. And now they have found consistency in their performances.
“[Chelsea's] defeat to QPR has killed their chances of being champions but they have a game in hand and will fight for the top four again. So for me the top four will be United, City, Spurs and Chelsea.
“The champions will be between the two teams of Manchester. I’m certain of that.”

29ccf3e66abc69eea5020589c56d3a71
Over time there has been an unending rumor on blogs and social media networks pointing to a secret marriage between beautiful MAVIN artiste, Tiwa Savage and longtime manager Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun. Once again this has been denied.
Though industry insiders maintain both individuals got married a few weeks back after a long romance, Balogun claims this is not true.
According to him: “The story is not true, these bloggers just publish what they like without doing their findings.”
When pressed further, the soft-spoken manager, insisted that it wasn’t true.
“I am right now in Benin having an album listening party of my other artiste, D’Prince. I have heard all the rumours, whenever I hear them I just laugh to myself. Who was there? Was the person at the wedding?” he asked rhetorically.
Tiwa Savage was not available for comments but we understand she is currently in the studio in Lagos. She had before now described the romance stories as mere rumours.
Obviously the stunning and talented artist is still available in the spinster market.

Edo state Police Spokesperson, Mr. Anthony Airhuoyo, confirmed the arrest in Benin city on Friday.

Liberia: President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf suspends two ministers over corruption

Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has suspended two ministers and senior officials for alleged mismanagement of the forest sector.
Agriculture Minister Florence Chenoweth who chairs the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) was suspended along with the agency’s board of directors.
They are accused of failing to abide by the new forestry law which requires the involvement of the community through Private Use Permit (PUP).
The president’s move followed a recommendation by a special investigative committee she constituted to probe the alleged mismanagement of the forest sector by government officials.
The suspensions were announced Thursday by the chair of the committee, acting Justice minister Counsellor Benedict Sannoh at the information ministry’s weekly press briefing in Monrovia.
Minister Sannoh said government over the past few years lost between $12 and $15 million due to “reckless disregard of the PUP which allows the rights of communities in the new forestry laws reformed in 2006”.
The Acting Solicitor-General accused those involved of violating the PUP by issuing permits to logging companies without due diligence which call for the protection of reserved forests.
Punitive measures
The committee recommended the nullification of all logging activities in the country and the prosecution of those alleged to have plundered the forest sector pending the reconstitution of the FDA board.
It further proposed the revocation of all PUPs for failure to comply with the National Forestry Reform Law.
A special Panel to conduct an inventory of all logs that have been felled in PUP operations that institutes confiscation proceedings for the auction of logs catalogued in the inventory.
“I remain committed to protecting our people and ensuring that our natural resources are used to benefit the country and communities in which those resources are found.
“It is very clear from this report that while the introduction of PUPs was meant exclusively for Private Land owners, the process was abused by investors, government employees and community leaders. This cannot and will not be allowed to stand. Punitive and corrective action will be taken to ensure this situation is not repeated,” President Johnson Sirleaf said as she endorsed the recommendations.

She’s HOT: Angry and heartbroken Balotelli is dumped by Playboy model girlfriend for Trey Songz (PICTURED)

He’s enjoyed more than his fair share of romantic liaisons with a whole host of beautiful women.
But it would seem the tables have been turned on Mario Balotelli for once, with the 22-year-old footballer having had his heart broken by girlfriend Tabby Brown.
The Playboy model is said to have grown tired of the lack of attention she received from the Manchester City striker, and has since ran into the arms of R&B star Trey Songz, 28.

And rather than take the end of the romance on the chin, the fiery Italian is said to have got ‘angry and upset’ with his former flame.
A friend of 28-year-old Tabby told The Sun newspaper: ‘It really did affect him. He got angry and upset and tried to pursue her. He had probably never been dumped before.’
It hadn’t been an easy ride for Tabby and Balotelli, with their seven-month relationship already put to the test when the footballer’s ex-girlfriend Raffaella Fico announced her pregnancy and subsequently gave birth to their baby daughter last month.

But Tabby is said to have been ‘swept off her feet’ by new man Trey.
A source added: ‘She wasn’t getting enough attention. Trey swept her off her feet.’
It’s not been a good week for Balotelli after he was pictured at the centre of a training ground fracas with his Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, on Thursday.
The City boss was reportedly forced to intervene after the footballer made a ‘horrendous’ tackle on fellow player Scott Sinclair.

Balotelli has enjoyed romantic liaisons with the likes of former hooker Jenny Thompson, glamour model Holly Henderson and reality star Khloe Evans in the past.
The star recently hit headlines once again after former underwear model Raffealla Fico, who gave birth to the former couple’s baby daughter Pia in December, accused him of not being interested in their child.
Speaking to Chi magazine, Raffaella said: ‘Mario for me is irresponsible. It came to a certain point where he was just not interested in anything, not in me, or our daughter.’
The footballing ace responded in a statement, saying: ‘I have asked my lawyer to take the necessary legal action to defend my honour which has been damaged by the declarations of Raffaella Fico to Chi.’
