PDP BoT Chair: Can Obj, Ibb, Atiku, others stop Anenih?

Can Obj, Ibb, Atiku, others stop this Edo man?

A desperate battle to build a consensus by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chiefs ahead of today’s election of the chairman and secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT) collapsed last night.
The bitter rivalry among influential forces within the party is likely to go on – no thanks to the quiet campaigns for 2015.
The party has split into three camps — the Presidency-Anenih group, pro-ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo caucus and the reformists (ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida and ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar), who are insisting on due process and transparency.
The Presidency is believed to be pushing for a former Chairman of the BoT, Chief Tony Anenih.
About 20 leaders of the party have obtained forms to occupy the seat, which was vacated last June by Obasanjo.
Some of the aspirants are: Anenih; former National Chairman of the PDP Senator Ahmadu Ali and Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo; a former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun; ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani; and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
There are also a former National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Don Etiebet, who is a returnee to the party; a former Chairman of the BoT of the ANPP, Chief Harry Akande and 12 others.
Others who did not apply but are being recommended for the post are ex-Vice-President Alex Ekwueme and a former acting National Chairman Alhaji Kawu Baraje.
Although horse-trading was ongoing last night, none of the candidates has agreed to step down.
A source in the BoT said: “The situation is still dicey because none of the candidates is willing to step down. The horse-trading is getting keener and challenging.
“All the affected zones (North central, South South, Southeast, Southwest) are insisting on their right to occupy the seat.
Responding to a question, the source added: “So far, the party has split into three. We have the Presidency-Anenih group, pro-ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo caucus, and the reformists (ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida and ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar), who are insisting on due process and transparency.
“But leaders are trying to be careful in managing the situation to avoid any crisis within the main advisory organ of the party.
“What is fueling the tension is the 2015 campaign being read into the choice of a new chairman and secretary for the BoT.”
The Nation learnt that the situation has degenerated with some BoT members opposing the conduct of the election because the tenure of the organ expired in July, last year.
All the BoT members came on board in 2007, shortly after the election of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
The members are citing Article 12.77(A) of the party’s constitution to demand the shift of the poll.
The article says: “Without prejudice to the provisions of Article 12.81 of this constitution, all members of the BoT specified in paragraphs (e)-(g) of Article 12.76(1) shall serve a single term of five years.”
The pro-postponement group is calling for an interim chairman, who will lead the organ till March when a new BoT will be constituted.
A source said: “Those in favour of postponement are saying that the Southwest should act as interim chairman till March when the tenure of the current Secretary of BoT, Sen. Walid Jibrin, will expire.
“If that works out, a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun, might serve as the acting chairman of the BoT.”
But most members of the BoT were still locked in lobbying ahead of the agenda, which slated election of new chairman for today.
It was gathered that the presidency is pushing for Anenih’s candidacy because of the 2015 presidential poll.
The popular thinking in the Presidency is that only Anenih as the BoT chairman can strategise for Jonathan to get the party’s ticket.
A source said: “The President’s strategists favor Anenih because most of the political godfathers in PDP, like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, and ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, are believed not to be for Jonathan.
“These point men are of the opinion that only a political tactician like Anenih could assist Jonathan with a counter-plot to secure a second term ticket. The Presidency is already buying into this idea.
“The idea behind Anenih’s choice is not to leave Jonathan bare – politically.”
But Anenih may face a big hurdle because the PDP Constitution does not allow a second term for a BoT chairman.
A member of the National Executive Committee of the party said by virtue of Article 12.77 (c) of the PDP, Anenih cannot return to office as the BoT chairman.
The article reads: “The Board of Trustees shall ensure that the Chairman and Secretary of the BoT shall subject to Article 12.81 of this constitution serve a single term of five years.
He said: “If Anenih is made the chairman of the BoT, it would amount to a violation of the PDP constitution. We do not know the justification behind the Presidency’s push for Anenih.
“Some people are arguing that Anenih was humiliated out of office in 2007 by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. But the real issue is that whether Anenih spent a day in office as BoT chairman, he cannot come back to lead the organ.”

Chicago lottery winner's death ruled a homicide

CHICAGO (AP) — With no signs of trauma and nothing to raise suspicions, the sudden death of a Chicago man a day after he collected a large pile of lottery winnings was initially ruled a result of natural causes.
Nearly six months later, authorities have a mystery on their hands after medical examiners, responding to a relative's pleas, did an expanded screening and determined that Urooj Khan, 46, died shortly after ingesting a lethal dose of cyanide. The finding has triggered a homicide investigation, the Chicago Police Department said.
"It's pretty unusual," said Cook County Medical Examiner Stephen Cina, commenting on the rarity of cyanide poisonings. "I've had one, maybe two cases out of 4,500 autopsies I've done."
In June, Khan, who owned a number of dry cleaners, stopped in at a 7-Eleven near his home in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the city's North Side and bought a ticket for an instant lottery game.
He scratched off the ticket, then jumped up and down and repeatedly shouted, "I hit a million," Khan recalled days later during a ceremony in which Illinois Lottery officials presented him with an oversized check. He said he was so overjoyed he ran back into the store and tipped the clerk $100.
"Winning the lottery means everything to me," he said at the June 26 ceremony, also attended by his wife, Shabana Ansari; their daughter, Jasmeen Khan; and several friends. He said he would put some of his winnings into his businesses and donate some to a children's hospital.
Khan opted to take his winnings in a lump sum of just over $600,000. After taxes, the check, issued July 19 from the state Comptroller's Office, was about $425,000, said lottery spokesman Mike Lang.
Khan died a day later.
No signs of trauma were found during an external exam and no autopsy was done because, at the time, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office didn't automatically perform them on those 45 and older unless the death was suspicious, Cina said. The cut-off has since been raised to age 50.
A basic toxicology screening for opiates, cocaine and carbon monoxide came back negative, and the death was ruled a result of the narrowing and hardening of coronary arteries.
But a relative came forward and asked authorities to look into the case further, Cina said. He refused to identify the relative.
"She (the morgue worker) then reopened the case and did more expansive toxicology, including all the major drugs of use, all the common prescription drugs and also included I believe strychnine and cyanide in there just in case something came up," Cina said. "And in fact cyanide came up in this case."
Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Melissa Stratton confirmed the department was now investigating the death and said detectives were working closely with the Medical Examiner's Office.

Mom Cut 20 Years in a Week Using This 1 Weird Trick

The second picture is taken exactly 14 days after the first. Notice the strong difference after applying the PuraSilk & Bellagenix

Mary, an ordinary mom of three from Bénin, Edo is the perfect example of a smart consumer that bypassed the health risks and thousands of dollars of using Botox to erase her wrinkles and "reverse the clock" on life.
Like most Americans, Mary makes an average salary and doesn't have the extra cash to try every celebrity endorsed Anti-Aging miracle cream out there, let alone splurge on expensive medical procedures. At one time she considered taking out loans for injecting Botox and even contemplated getting a facelift, but became frightened after researching Botox and face lift malpractice stories. Mary was determined to find a safe and affordable solution that would yield real results and not leave her in debt.
After watching a television documentary on cell revival, Mary discovered two beauty product trials from trusted skin care companies PuraSilk & Bellagenix to unlock the secrets of anti-aging. Her results are comparable to what you might attain at Medi Spas and Doctors offices for $3000 or more, all the while using nothing but PuraSilk & Bellagenix.
After finding Mary's shocking success story on the Internet, we thought it was important to share her story with our readers wanting to erase those wrinkles and "reverse the clock" on life. This solution has not only removed her wrinkles, but also tightened her neck and face instantly. It changed her life and we hope it can change yours too.

The Solution:

Mary discovered that the secret to cell revival is Polymoist-PS, an advanced formula that affects your skin at the cellular level. Polymoist-PS allows to lift off layers of dead or dying skin. After removing the top layer of skin, the soft, young skin from underneath is brought to the surface and hydrated. While researching the best anti-aging/skin care products, she discovered celebrities had been using Polymoist-PS creams for years to stay and look young. A prominent celebrity skin care doctor also revealed that using PuraSilk & Bellagenix with Polymoist-PS was the celebrity secret to success as it contains powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and moisturizing agents.
"Based on my research, I knew PuraSilk & Bellagenix would deliver incredible results and the fact that I got them both as free trials was the icing on top. I never would have thought that something which is being offered for free could ever yield a better result than the more expensive anti-aging solutions." - Mary

Mary's Story & 14 Day Cell Revival Results:

"I have to admit I do tend to jump on the bandwagon and I have tried countless anti-aging wrinkle creams such as Oil of Olay, Neutrogena, and many others to help me look young again. Unfortunately, the results were never as good as I wanted them to be. Until, one day after watching a documentary on Polymoist-PS and doing some careful research, I found PuraSilk & Bellagenix. I was very skeptical, but during my research I came across countless success stories and clinical studies which led me to giving them a fair try.
So how did I get started? During my time researching Polymoist-PS, I discovered most of the success stories were from people who combined PuraSilk & Bellagenix for maximum results. These products are extremely potent anti-oxidant wrinkle reducers containing not only Polymoist-PS, but also the popular Renovage (also known as "Facelift in a Jar") and Ester-C (which is the active anti-aging compound in Vitamin C).
"The instruction recommended was to apply PuraSilk in the morning, while applying Bellagenix before bed time." - Mary
Day 1
The first day using PuraSilk & Bellagenix, I was surprised on how wonderful they both made my skin feel.
It felt like every last pore on my face was being tightened and pulled by a gigantic vacuum cleaner. I don't know how else to describe it. I could feel a deep, warm, tingly sensation on my cheeks, around my eyes, and my forehead. I looked in the mirror and saw a rosy-tinged hue. A radiant, glowing hue that was the result of nourishing blood rushing to the surface of my skin. And these marvelous "sensations" lasted for hours.
I applied PuraSilk in the early morning and I applied Bellagenix before bed time.

By Day 5
After five days of using PuraSilk & Bellagenix, I was shocked of the drastic results.
The lines, the pores and the wrinkles - without question - were visibly reduced in size right before my eyes!
I was astonished by the results, and I literally felt 20 years younger again. I felt I was watching all my wrinkles and lines vanish right off.

By Day 14
After 14 days, not only had all my doubts and skepticism absolutely vanished...but so did my wrinkles!
The lines on my forehead, the loose skin on my neck...even the age spots on my face...looked so much less noticeable and disappeared. I've never felt and seen anything tighten my skin with this kind of force.
After using PuraSilk & Bellagenix for a couple of weeks, my skin not only stayed that way, it actually got better and better looking each day until it got as beautiful and flawless looking today as it was 20 years ago.
At this point, all my family and friends started asking me if I got a face lift or tried BOTOX.

A MUST READ! True Life Story by the Richest Man In Hollywood

A few years ago I was getting these really insane water bills. I mean HIGH! So I decided to dig some wells in my yard to have water for my landscape. I live alone, so I know it had to be from watering the grass.
photoSo I hired a company to come out and dig these wells. The foreman and I walked all around my yard and as we were walking he was putting down flags. I asked what the flags were for. He said,
“The flags represent good places to dig for water.” I asked, “Why do you have so many flags?” He said, “I’m not sure if any of these places will produce water.” I said, “Hold up, you mean if you dig all these spots and don’t hit water I still have to pay you?” He said, “Yes, that’s how it goes.” I said, “Ok, fine.” Needless to say, he dug three wells and never hit water. I said, “Just stop.”
I got a few more extreme water bills and called him back. He said, “Are you sure?” I said, “Yes, keep drilling until you hit water.” The next well he dug he was down 500 feet and still didn’t hit any water. He asked if I wanted him to stop. I said, “Go deeper.” He dug down another 200 feet and still nothing. I said, “Go deeper.” He drilled another 200 feet and he hit rock.
I said, “Blast it, cut it, do whatever you have to do but keep digging.” After fighting the rock and breaking his drill and getting a new one we got a little deeper. He said, “We are at 1,200 feet, why do you want me to keep going?” I said, “Cause I’m tired of these water bills and I’m going to do something about it.” He said, “But this is really deep.” I asked him if he had hit water yet. He said “no,” so I told him to go deeper. “But you don’t understand,” he said. “We don’t usually drill this deep, this is going to be expensive.”
I told him that, “Sometimes you have to go deeper to get what you are after, no matter what the cost.” He started the machine and went down another four inches and hit a river of water. Just a few inches separated me from getting my breakthrough. That was five years ago and that well has never run dry.
Tyler’s Advise for all this New Year
In 2013 I want you to apply that to your life in all ways. Sometimes you will spend time on a thing and it will produce no water. Don’t be afraid to move on to another spot. YOU CAN’T HAVE FEAR. I don’t care how much time you put into it. If the well is dry MOVE ON! Nothing lives where there is no living water. Be it a relationship, a job, a business, don’t be afraid to move to another spot.
Now, on the other hand, if you are digging your well and you are sure that it is not only where you want to be but where God wants you to be, then keep digging in that same spot. Don’t stop digging until you hit a river of blessings. Don’t stop praying until you live in the change you’ve been waiting for. Don’t stop pushing until you deliver your breakthrough. Yes, it will get difficult. Yes, you may hit rock. Yes, there will be a cost. But when you get to what God is trying to get you to, YOU WILL RECOVER IT ALL!
One of my favorite scriptures says that. “PURSUE AND YOU SHALL RECOVER IT ALL!”
Some people give up when they are only inches away!!
Happy New Year.

“Nollywood is dead” – Emeka Ike

He has been regarded as a rebel in different quarters for his supposed anti-progressive stand on the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, but in this interview, the Imo state born actor talks extensively about Nollywood, why he feels misunderstood by colleagues, and his plans for the guild.

Let’s start with your chieftaincy title. Why do you think you were made Ezekwesili in Anambra state, far from your home state of Imo?
I don’t know exactly what it is but perhaps it is in recognition of my efforts to make things better. It was not until I took the title home that I discovered I’m from a royal family too, although I didn’t get the title from my place. My father is the Opara-di-Opara (the man that gets to have the first anything in that community) of my village in Imo state.
What are the effects having this title has had on you?
Nothing has changed. I have just become more socially responsible and responsive to the society, humanity. It also gave me a leadership frame and helped me see myself as someone with a class of respect.
What is your take on traditional rulers in Nigeria?
I don’t have anything against traditional authority in any way. Whatever promotes humanity and redefines life are the things I want to be part of and support. If being a king will add value to humanity, I think it is my passion.
Away from that, why are you yet to return to the movies?
I’m not the only one who is missing in action. A lot of us are but perhaps I get noticed more because maybe I am most loved. We all parade ourselves as stars but we know stars have levels. Away from that, I am not the only one involved. Have you bothered to ask when last you heard of Oba Iweka road or of Idumota or Pound road in Aba? That was the last time we stopped being paid.
How do you mean?
As you can see, the investors in the movie industry (Bayowa Films, Remmy Jes, Kas Vid) have been run over by the TV houses, no thanks to some of my colleagues. Nollywood has been taken over and it is evident.
Did some players in the movie industry know about this alleged takeover?
Of course they did. They sold out to the TV houses and that has become the Nollywood we now talk about. Nollywood now exists only on Africa Magic, owned by South Africans. Meanwhile, while we were struggling to put the industry together, they (South African investors) were not around, but now they show our Nollywood movies and play their country’s soundtrack. They go as far as try to bring up their new faces and play him up with a stupid star and try to create a somebody out of him. That way they are building their stars, Jacob’s Cross, Tinsel and so on.
What efforts were made to preserve Nollywood’s integrity?
At a time, Charles Novia came boldly to say that very soon all the stars would be gone. This was because he knew what they had done. They had mortgaged the future of the industry making cheap benefits. There was a time we attended a conference in South Africa and these people (South Africans) were inquisitive, probing and wanting to know about how we make our movies. While I was speaking like a patriotic Nigerian, arguing against letting our strategies out, some of my colleagues quietly sold out, exchanging cards and numbers with them. Unknown to them, they were selling out. When I said then that Africa Magic was ripping actors and producers off, people said I was crazy, some of my colleagues were paid to put up words against my claim. Now, plenty of them have been forced out of the job, because people who pay and invest in the movies are no longer in business.
Were the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Association of Movie Producers and Directors Guild of Nigeria not aware of these developments?
It got to a point all efforts to salvage the situation became impossible because there was so much politicking going on. First, their content provider, Emeka Mba was lobbied to becoming the DG of the Censorship board, not forgetting he was one of those who brought them into Nigeria. Mba’s position paved the way for them and made their business smooth. They needed to close down Nollywood to make TV more viable than it was, and that was when Emeka came up with the idea of every producer paying a sum of five million naira before their movies could get to the market. That was how it started and gradually some started falling off and a lot more were arrested for defaulting. Till tomorrow, I will keep calling Emeka Mba a criminal and I’ll never forgive [him] because he destroyed the interest of the industry for personal reasons. He was one of those who owned HITV, but shame on him.
Apart from job loss, what other impact has this alleged invasion caused Nollywood?
A lot, and most are negative. Now there is no more Infinity Merchandise, P. Collins, O.C Affassons and other big names we knew in those days. Places where Nollywood movies were readily available, like Idumota, Oba Iweka road, and Pound road, Aba have been shut down, leaving only Alaba in existence. Alaba; a place we all, as an industry, tried to close down. The invasion has been on for a long time, it has put the industry in a state of coma, and has finally killed it. Nollywood is dead and this is so because we are never going to have a big producer roll out money anymore or visioneers bring out money to invest. What we are going to keep having are scallywags and cheap production assistants running around to see how to put ten faces together and see if they can make at least fifteen thousand jacket sales.
But some of your colleagues seem to be enjoying the industry despite the challenges you have mentioned. Where does this place you?
They are not asking the right questions. I stood as Emeka Ike and made over a million jacket sales, only me, without putting twenty actors on one jacket. The cheap illiterates amongst my colleagues antagonize me, and I don’t blame them; I blame myself for mingling with them. I look at most of them (colleagues) and I begin to imagine the content in most of them. Most of them wear dark shades and parade themselves like they are more than they are. What are they worth when they don’t even know their rights in the industry, but go about posing on red carpets with dark shades and speak [with] some accent that was never properly learnt? All those are cheap ways of life. These guys don’t ask questions about what we are doing as a guild or an industry, and the few that do are labelled troublemakers. That is the mentality in Nigeria. Gani Fawehinmi was seen as a trouble maker till he died, same as Fela. These are the people who bring about change in their communities.
You vied to become president of AGN, but lost. If you had won, what would have been your focal point?
I am still the president of AGN, the legal president, but because of my stand, it is difficult to let men like me survive it, because if we do, we will destroy these evil men who run the system. The same thing is applicable in the wider world; responsible men are running away from politics, which is why a lot of riff-raffs are making headway in it. We need to redefine what  value is to us. It’s not the dark shades and the glittering dresses but what adds to humanity, and we should be able to draw the line between what is value and what is not.
What is your take on Ibinabo Fiberisima as president of the guild?
Her swearing in was illegal. How can she be president? Please tell me. There is a court case yet to be settled involving myself and Segun Arinze. How then can he conduct an election? Again, Ibinabo has not been cleared with the police. I don’t know what is happening. Are these things supposed to be? The president ordered that all recipients of national honours that have criminal records should be stripped of them, and that is how it should be. We should run things right, at least for the sake of our children and ones yet unborn.
What would you say the guild is lacking?
Leadership. We have everything right now, and the few idiots that discovered this have quickly gone to register the guild as their personal companies. Do you even know that the AGN was originally registered as a company for individuals with just five board of trustee members? Most people don’t know this fact, including my colleagues. These are the things we are fighting against. While fighting to remove these guys, they appointed Segun (Arinze) as their president. I challenged this and took them to court but they broke the court’s injunction and conducted another election. You see the gimmicking of old politicians? That is what we are fighting, not Segun Arinze. He is my friend, so is Ibinabo, but we have to do right thing in this country; that is the only way a future can be built.
When did these problems begin for Nollywood?
It [has been] from the beginning. I’m sure not many know that the first president of AGN, Remmy Jes, was flogged out of office by the board of trustees. They used cultism and all other means. This is painful for me because I am one of those that fought for the name. When you say Nollywood, you can’t leave Emeka Ike out of it. I can’t keep quiet, although a lot of people may because they are scared for their careers, but I am a leader and will be their spokesman. People like me, who have the goodwill of the country at heart should not be afraid of coming out.
On a final note, Nollywood will be 21 this year. What do you think about its’ direction?
Nollywood is not going in the right direction, People saying that are people who are just happy that they have benefited from it. How can you say an industry that has its structure destroyed is in the right direction? We already made an impression on the world. All that was left was the technical know-how and government empowering us. We couldn’t get that, but rather got big foreigners who hijacked the gold from us.

Revealed: How plans to fly Governor Chime back failed because of bad health

Attempts to fly ailing Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State back to the country in December from India to celebrate Christmas and New Year with his family proved abortive following the deterioration of his health during the trip, a competent source told LEADERSHIP yesterday.
The entire Government House, Enugu, and Chime’s personal residence in Udi, his country home, were lavishly decorated with Christmas trees and lightings a week before Christmas as part of preparations to receive the governor, who ostensibly left the country in September 2012 to spend his accumulated leave abroad.
According to the source, the governor who is suspected to be suffering from terminal disease had a relapse when he arrived in London from India, forcing his aides and relatives who accompanied him on the trip to take him back to his hospital bed in India.
The source said that the decision to bring him back to the country to celebrate Christmas and New Year was based on the need to douse the tension in the state generated by his long absence from duty.
Governor Chime had, prior to his departure from the country, addressed a letter to the speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Barrister Eugene Odo, indicating that he was travelling abroad to spend his accumulated leave, but, according to sources, the letter did not specify the duration of the leave, neither was it brought to the notice of several members of the legislature.
The deputy governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, has since then been standing in as acting governor, but sources close to Government House, Enugu, alleged that Onyebuchi has limited functions since he cannot award contracts or approve expenditure worth more than a million naira.
There are strong indications that the state House of Assembly would on resumption from Christmas and New Year recess deliberate on the whereabouts of the governor and, according to a member of the house, “take appropriate action”.
According to section 189(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), “the governor or deputy governor of a state shall cease to hold office if (a) by a resolution passed by two-thirds majority of all members of the executive council of the state, it is declared that the governor or deputy governor is incapable of discharging the functions of his office; and (b) the declaration in paragraph (a) of this sub-section is verified, after such medical examination as may be necessary by a medical panel established under sub-section in its report to the speaker of the House of Assembly.”
And sub-section 2 says that “where the medical panel certifies in its report that in its opinion the governor or deputy governor is suffering from such infirmity of body or mind as renders him permanently incapable of discharging the functions of his office, a notice thereof signed by the speaker of the House of Assembly shall be published in the official gazettee of the government of the state”.
The governor or deputy governor, according to sub-section (3), “shall cease to hold office as from the date of publication of the notice of the medical report pursuant to subsection (2) of this section…”
Meanwhile, the leadership of Enugu State Development Association, ESDA, has said it would meet with the acting governor soon to get a clue on the whereabouts of Governor Chime and the nature of his ill-health.
