Hottest divorcee ever? Former Mrs. Tiger Woods shows off perfect bikini body in the Bahamas (PHOTO)

Hottest divorcee ever?
Elin Nordegren was spotted enjoying the sand and surf in the Bahamas on Sunday Jan. 6. The Swedish-born former model, famous around the world as ex-wife to Tiger Woods, showed off her incredible figure in a a skimpy black-and-silver string bikini; strolling on the sand, the blonde beauty capped off the sexy ensemble with a straw hat and shades.
Whenever Nordegren’s island vacation is over, she’ll have some considerable beachside access right at home in Florida: Work is nearly done on a massive building project for a 21,000-square-foot mansion complete with Olympic pool, koi pond and a spa. Nordegren purchased the property in March 2010 for $12.2 million, demolishing the original two-story 17,000-square-foot house to make way for her dream home.
Nordegren is paying for the abode with some of the spoils from her $100 million divorce settlement from golfer Woods, 36, who notoriously cheated on her with multiple women. Married for five years, the couple share daughter Sam, 5, and son Charlie, 3.
As for Nordegren’s dating life? She was most recently linked romantically to Swedish hockey hunk Douglas Murray — dining with the athlete in Miami in December.

Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, was Thursday arrested  by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).
He was picked up from his Abuja residence, a source in EFCC confirmed to Vanguard.
Vanguard gathered that Soludo’s arrest was in connection with the controversial contract he awarded for the printing of polymer currency notes to an Australian firm while he was governor of the CBN between 2006 and 2008.
It was not clear as at the time of filing this report if the operatives would release the former Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate.

Biden’s Gun Violence Event Interrupted By News Of Another School Shooting

By Igor Volsky

Students evacuated from Taft High School.
On Thursday afternoon, CNN showed footage of Vice President Joe Biden meeting with gun rights groups and talking to reporters about his ongoing efforts to curb gun violence in the United States. Biden said that he would present his recommendations to the president on Tuesday. But before Biden could finish his presentation, CNN cut into his remarks to report on another school shooting. This morning, “at least two people were shot at Taft High School” in California at 9:00AM and the shooter has reportedly been taken into custody.
During the meeting, Biden floated the idea of implementing “universal background checks, not just closing the gun show loophole” and limiting the availability of high capacity magazines. “The last area is the whole subject of the ability of any federal agency to do research on gun violence,” he said.
The United States has experienced at least 33 school shootings since Columbine.

Update
NY Daily News reports that an “active shooter,” is still presumed in the building.

A six-month-old Nigerian baby kidnapped in South Africa.

A six-month-old Nigerian baby has been kidnapped by his parent’s neighbours in South Africa.
A couple, believed to be  Pakistanis,  were said to have kidnapped the son  of Ifeanyi Jones, named Revelation, leaving the baby’s nanny Veronica Kanda for dead . They also locked his six-year-old daughter in the house.
According to a South African on-line news portal, iol.co.za, the couple was Jones’s tenants and could be on the run with their three children, believed to be aged between two and six.  The couple was said to be in their early thirties and of average build, while the wife claimed to be seven months pregnant.
The abducted baby, Revelation, is small for his age, having been born prematurely. He had minor surgery recently and was on medication.
On Tuesday, just after 5pm, a worried Jones opened the door to his house and found Kanda (the nanny) lying in the hallway, covered in blood.
“When I saw her, at first I didn’t recognise her, her face was so swollen,” Jones said.
For several hours he and his wife Khanyisile had been phoning the nanny and the house, and no one had picked up the phone.
Kanda’s husband, Daniel Kanda, said his wife had told him the attack had taken place early in the morning. She was carrying the baby when the couple attacked her.
“They wrestled as the couple was trying to pull the baby from her; until she fell to the ground, and (the couple) started attacking her. They were attacking her with shoes. The man tied a rope around her neck, that is when she collapsed,” he said.
During the attack, Jones’s daughter said she and the tenants’ three children had hid under a chair in one of the rooms.

She told her father that when the wife noticed her watching them, she grabbed a pillow, pressed it against her face and pushed her into her parents’ room, locking the door.
“She saw them carry out her brother and lock the door,” said Jones.
Kanda was taken to hospital, where she is in a critical condition, with head injuries.
The tenants moved into the house on 5 December, last year.
The husband, who only gave his name as Bobby, told Jones that the family had come from Durban.
They had been staying at a nearby hotel, but said it had become expensive.
At the end of the month, the couple said they didn’t have enough money to pay the rent and asked for a few days’ grace.
Last week, the Joneses became suspicious when they noticed that something had been added to their food that was cooking on the stove. They later gave the food to the family, who they then discovered had dumped it in the garden.
Jones suspects that they might have poisoned the food.
“I think now that their motive was to come and do harm,” he said.
Police investigators are now searching for the Pakistanis, who have demanded a R100, 000 ransom, a day after the two alleged kidnappers walked out of Jones’s Bez Valley home with baby Revelation.
Police are investigating a case of kidnapping and attempted murder, appealing to anyone who may know the Pakistani couple’s whereabouts to come forward with information

Sweet Sodas and Soft Drinks May Raise Your Risk of Depression, Study Finds

Is your diet soda making you depressed? (Photo: Thinkstock)Is your diet soda making you depressed? (Photo: Thinkstock)We know that sugary sodas aren't good for our bodies; now it turns out that they may not be good for our minds, either. A new study of more than 260,000 people has found a link between sweetened soft-drinks and depression -- and diet sodas may be making matters worse.

Americans drink far more soda than people in other countries -- as much as 170 liters per person per year (no wonder New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg banned super-sized servings of the stuff). But the impact of this study isn't limited to the United States. "Sweetened beverages, coffee and tea are commonly consumed worldwide and have important physical-and may have important mental-health consequences," study author Dr. Honglei Chen, an investigator at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, said in a statement.

Related: Are the Health Risks of Soda Really That Bad?

The study, which was released on Tuesday and will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology's annual meeting in March, involved 263,925 people between the ages of 50 and 71. Researchers tracked their consumption of beverages like soda, tea, coffee, and other soft drinks from 1995 to 1996 and then, 10 years later, asked them if they had been diagnosed with depression since the year 2000. More than 11,300 of them had.

Participants who drank more than four servings of soda per day were 30 percent more likely to develop depression than participants who did not drink soda at all. People who stuck with fruit punch had a 38 percent higher risk than people who didn't drink sweetened drinks.

And all that extra sugar isn't the actual problem: The research showed that low-calorie diet sodas, iced teas, and fruit punches were linked to an slightly higher risk of depression than the high-calorie stuff. Researchers say that the artificial sweetener aspartame may be to blame.

"Our findings are preliminary, and the underlying biological mechanisms are not known," said Chen. The study found an association but could not conclusively determine whether sodas and other sweet soft drinks cause depression, even after taking into account factors like age, gender, education, smoking, body mass index (BMI) and other issues. Still, the results "are intriguing and consistent with a small but growing body of evidence suggesting that artificially sweetened beverages may be associated with poor health outcomes."

But there's a bright side for those who can't do without the caffeinated jolt of their daily sodas. Adults who drank coffee had a 10 percent lower risk of depression compared to people who didn't drink any coffee, according to the study. That reinforces findings from a 2011 study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, which said that women who drink fully caffeinated coffee have a lower risk of depression than non-coffee drinkers.

"Our research suggests that cutting out or down on sweetened diet drinks or replacing them with unsweetened coffee may naturally help lower your depression risk," said Chen. "Coffee contains large amounts of caffeine, which is a well-known brain stimulant."

Chen cautions that, if you've been diagnosed with depression, cutting your soda intake isn't necessarily going to help. "More research is needed to confirm these findings," Chen said, "and people with depression should continue to take depression medications prescribed by their doctors."

Inaugural Benediction To Be Delivered By Pastor Who Gave Vehemently Anti-Gay Sermon

Pastor Louie Giglio

The Presidential Inauguration Committee announced Tuesday that the President Obama has selected Pastor Louie Giglio of the Georgia-based Passion City Church to deliver the benediction for his second inauguration. In a mid-1990s sermon identified as Giglio’s, available online on a Christian training website, he preached rabidly anti-LGBT views. The 54-minute sermon, entitled “In Search of a Standard – Christian Response to Homosexuality,” advocates for dangerous “ex-gay” therapy for gay and lesbian people, references a biblical passage often interpreted to require gay people be executed, and impels Christians to “firmly respond to the aggressive agenda” and prevent the “homosexual lifestyle” from becoming accepted in society. Below are some of the most disturbing views in the sermon. Christians must fight against LGBT-equality:
(2:40) We must not just sit quietly by and stick our heads in the sand and let whatever happens happen in our country. We’ve got to respond to the world that we live in. That is the mandate that comes to us as people of God. And this issue is coming more and more to the forefront every day.
(31:45) We must lovingly but firmly respond to the aggressive agenda of not all, but of many in the homosexual community. … Underneath this issue is a very powerful and aggressive moment. That movement is not a benevolent movement, it is a movement to seize by any means necessary the feeling and the mood of the day, to the point where the homosexual lifestyle becomes accepted as a norm in our society and is given full standing as any other lifestyle, as it relates to family.
Homosexuality is a sin:
(9:20) [God] says very clearly in [Leviticus], verse 22, after he talks about a lot of different kinds of relationships, he says in verse 22: “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female. It is an abomination.” Now if you would look forward into the New Testament context, to the passage that most of us know most commonly with this issue, into chapter one of the book of Romans, let’s read a few verses together beginning in verse 18. If you’re taking notes tonight, you might make this the note of Leviticus 20:13 and the book of Jude, we won’t look at those passages but there is some support and encouragement there to this topic.
(17:37) Men, women, I can’t say anything other to you tonight than this, that if you look at the counsel of the word of God, Old Testament, New Testament, you come quickly to the conclusion that homosexuality is not an alternate lifestyle… homosexuality is not just a sexual preference homosexuality is not gay, but homosexuality is sin. It is sin in the eyes of God, and it is sin according to the word of God. You come to only one conclusion: homosexuality is less than God’s best for his creation. It is less than God’s best for us and everything in our lives that is less than God’s best for us and his plan for us and his design for us, is sin. That’s God’s voice. If you want to hear God’s voice, that is his voice to this issue of homosexuality. It is not ambiguous and unclear. It is very clear.
People aren’t born gay — but even if they are, it’s still a choice like giving into alcoholism, addiction, and overeating:
(28:20) I would refer you maybe just to the article “Born gay?” by Joe Dallas, who is the president of a ministry that helps with homosexuals in “recovery.” It was found in Christianity Today in June of 1992. It really unfolds for us that the evidence that they say is there, that the media wants to tell us is there really isn’t there at all. But I want to tell you this tonight. Even if it was there… How do you respond to that? How do you respond to the news reports that we’re hearing in the last few months that there is a genetic tendency to be an over-eater and it’s been supposedly proved by the scientists? That there is a genetic tendency to addictive behavior. Alcoholics by and large have a genetic tendency to addictive behavior. I predict in our lifetimes and not a very long period of time from now, scientists and geneticists will have found a way to prove a gene theory for every malfunction in sinful society. And do you know why? We talked about it the very first week—because we do not want responsibility for our choices.
Gay people are going to Hell:
(47:40) First Corinthians, Chapter 6. In verses nine and 10, it talks about the things that prevent people from entering the Kingdom of God. It talks about all kinds of immoral behavior. And right in the midst of that passage, right in the middle of that verse it says “and those who are homosexual.” It’s clear.
Gay people can become straight through Christianity:
(40:25) As the church of Jesus Christ, we cannot sit on the sidelines, we cannot sit back inside our churches, but we must reach out and we must aggressively move toward the homosexual community because we have a message and we’ve got something to say… our message is we know Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is powerful enough to do anything and to do everything. And the only way out of a homosexual lifestyle, the only way out of a relationship that has been engrained over years of time, is through the healing power of Jesus.
(43:16) We’ve got to say the homosexuals, the same thing that I say to you and that you would say to me… it’s not easy to change, but it is possible to change.
Four years ago anti-gay Pastor Rick Warren gave the invocation at President Obama’s first inauguration.
A spokesman for Giglio was not immediately available to respond to questions about whether this sermon represents Giglio’s current thinking.
