Fake pastor defrauds members N6m

Fake pastorOperatives attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Adeniji Adele, Lagos, have arrested two men who allegedly have been masquerading as seers and deliverance ministers to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspects identified as Sunday Omogbehin and Olawale Adeniyi , allegedly swindled one of their victims to the tune of N6 million, which they claimed would be used to conduct deliverance on him.
The suspects, as gathered, held a prayer session with their victim, one Ojomo in Aguda area of Lagos, last year, in the course of which they attributed his inability to travel out of the country to some spiritual constraints. They, thereafter, reportedly demanded the sum which they claimed would be used to offer prayers that would cleanse his (victim) mouth odour.
Aside that, they also reportedly told their victim that after the deliverance session, the obstacle militating against his travelling outside the country would be broken.
Ojomo, who at that time was battling to obtain a Canadian visa, fell into the trap. But trouble started after he reportedly paid N6 million instalmentally without any headway.
Police sources at Adeniji Adele told Vanguard that the arrest was made following complaint by the victim, who also claimed he was hypnotized.
The case, as gathered, was charged to Igbosere Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of felony, obtaining money by false pretense and stealing, from where the suspects were remanded in prison custody over their inability to meet up with the bail condition of payment of N250,000 each and two sureties in like some.

Gujungu commended Gov. Lamido for his development projects and urged him “to wade in and save the north from total collapse”.

Beware Of 'Kissing' Diseases, Doctors Warn

Saint Valentine's Day is observed on 14 February each year. It has evolved into an occasion when lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending of greeting cards. However, medical researchers and experts warn lovers to be careful with kissing, because kissing is a source of several diseases and infections, such as hepatitis B, infectious mononucleosis (or kissing disease), gum diseases, strep throat, infectious diseases from mouth sores, hand, foot, and mouth disease, HIV and meningococcal diseases.
Beware Of 'Kissing' Diseases, Doctors Warn
World Health Organisation (WHO) identifies Hepatitis viruses’ infection to be a major disease burden worldwide. According Dr. Olufunmilayo Lesi, a consultant physician and gastroenterologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Nigeria belongs to the group of countries highly endemic for this viral hepatitis. Its prevalence is about 10-20 per cent in Nigeria from the extrapolation of 90 million Nigerians. A disease condition that can be transmitted through viral infections A-E, bacteria, drugs, alcohol, certain medications, chemicals, bacteria, poisons, toxins, by other diseases... and through kissing.
"It is a disease condition that spreads like a plague and cracks the largest organ in the body like an earthquake, with long term asymptomatic damage to the liver if the infection is in a chronic stage. The long term damage to the liver restrains the liver from performing its numerous functions," the doctor said.

Kiss may be a source of diseases and infections
She added that having multiple sex partners and engaging in a deep kiss with an infected person who has an ulcer or sores in the gum, mouth or on the tongue is a risk factor of its transmission of hepatitis B.
"It is also transmitted mainly by contact with blood or blood products or body fluid, sharing of contaminated needles, blade, sharing of toothbrushes, nail clippers, pedicure and manicure tools and sexual intercourse with an infected person."
She pointed out that in Nigeria the commonest cause are the viruses.
The treasurer of Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN), Dr. Edith Okeke also affirmed that 19 million Nigerians are infected with hepatitis. In chronic hepatitis B, there is manifestation of symptoms like prolonged vomiting, nausea, fatigue or weakness, confusion or difficulty concentrating, headache, not urinating, irritability, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen and legs, stomach hardness, weight loss and cirrhosis among others.
A condition in which healthy liver tissue is replaced by fibrous tissue, followed by scar-like hardening. As this happens, the liver gradually begins to fail, or lose its ability to carry out its normal functions
Researchers have also identified infectious mononucleosis, or 'kissing disease' caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) or cytomegalovirus (CMV). This is a disease condition that can be transferred when contact is made with the saliva of the infected person through kissing.
Symptoms of infectious mononucleosis include fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat and extreme fatigue that may last six weeks or longer. Treatment consists of comfort measures for fever and pain. Since the cause is viral, antibiotics are not effective against the disease.
Also infectious diseases from the mouth sore, such as cold sores that spread through open cold sores on the lips or near the mouth, have been mentioned by experts to be transferable through mouth contact and kissing.
Explaining the link of HIV transmission through saliva, Dr. Oliver Ezechiu of Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos, said saliva carries a negligible viral load, but in an open-mouthed kissing it is considered a low risk.
However, if the infected partner or both of the performers have blood in their mouth due to cuts, open sores, or gum disease the risk is higher.
Other interactions that could theoretically result in person-to-person transmission include caring for nose bleeds, biting and home healthcare procedures, but with very few recorded incidents of transmission occurring in this way.
Meningitis is also identified as a potential life-threatening infection of the tough layer of the tissues that surround the brain and the spinal cord. If not treated it can lead to brain swelling and cause permanent disability, coma and even death. The infection can be spread through contact with saliva, mucus, or faecal matter, throat and respiratory secretions — for example, by coughing or kissing.
It's not so pessimistic, after all
Regardless of the fact that kissing could expose one to loads of germs and infections, experts also revealed that kissing is good to boost immunity, burn calories, and keep facial muscles strong.
Scientific reports say kissing increases the levels of oxytocin, the body's natural calming chemical and also increases endorphins, the body's 'feel-good' chemicals.
Swapping spit is also noted to increase dopamine, which aids in feelings of romantic attachment. Kissing reduces blood levels of IgE, allergy antibody. It increases emotional bonds, stimulates saliva production that keeps the mouth healthy and it reduces stress.
Kissing is not just for fun, it is also good for your health. But it is advisable to keep the mouth healthy and be conscious of who you kiss.

Nasarawa corps members disrupt POP, protest unpaid state allowance

by Hir Joseph, Lafia

Members of the 2012 Batch A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Nasarawa State, today, disrupted their passing out parade with a protest against the non-payment of stipends by Nasarawa State government.

The youth corps members poured unto Lafia-Akwanga Road in front of College of Agriculture, where their passing out parade was to take place, and held the road up for hours, beginning from about 9am, when dignitaries where expected to start arriving.

Bearing fresh leaves, the protesting corps members barricaded the major highway with branches of trees, and defied the presence of truckloads of armed policemen. They obstructed traffic along the road, causing serious gridlock there, until two hours later when the state deputy governor, Dameshi Barau Luka arrived to appeal to them to reopen the road.

Some of the protesting corps members

They told newsmen that they were being owed between six and 12 months of stipends from the state government, and vowed they were not going to leave the state without their allowances.

“The protest is our last resort. We complained between Monday and Tuesday. We were told our problem would be addressed before our passing out. We were surprised that NYSC coordinator and the state government went ahead to organize our passing out without first addressing our problem as promised”, one of the corps members said.

They said the amount the state government undertook to pay them was N4,000 each. A total of 2,600 corps members were expected to pass out today.

The state deputy governor, who visited there at about 11am, was accompanied by the state NYSC coordinator, Mr. Stephen Akin Alabi.

Luka appealed to them to bear with the government, as he explained that the situation was due to inadequate data collection. He said the state government only knew that corps members were owed, on Wednesday and commenced processes to lead to their payment.

“When we got the notice yesterday, we went into an action to know why because the present administration has never broken the procedure of the payment. We have been working with the NYSC state director to solve the problem,” the deputy governor said.

He said a committee was promptly set up to pay, naming the state Auditor-General Yusuf Gani, as its chairman.

Daily Trust reports that at about 3pm, the state government had just commenced the process of payment, which ran into hitches because some corps members could not find their names on the list of persons for local allowances. The development sparked series of protests, with corps members throwing stones at the ministry’s building along Jos Road.

Armed policemen were on ground, and tried unsuccessfully, to calm them down.

Public Relations Officer of the NYSC in the state, Mrs. Josephate Onawo declined to speak to Daily Trust on the development, just as she declined to answer whether or not the passing out was to hold.

Valentine: Top Six Celebrity Couples In Nigeria Today

By

Valentine is a day specifically set aside to celebrate LOVE, celebrate how strong(er) your LOVE has made you grown and how you have surpassed all tides – yeah the ups and downs of relationship.
We have decided to celebrate six celebrity couples because they are almost flawless. Huh? Yeah, don’t get us wrong, nobody is perfect but these six couples have over the years proven their love – they are icons in the industry of love!
Fasten up your seat belts as we embark on the celebration of our top six celebrity couple!
Olu and Joke Jacobs: Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva grew in acting together, and look at each other like partners not rivals. They are unarguably the oldest couple in Nollywood today. They have been married for almost 30years now yet their love is still strong! During Joke Silva’s 5oth birthday celebration in 2011, the couple renewed their marital vows and Joke was in tears!
Recalling how they met, Joke says “When I first met Olu, he was this dashing guy. He was just such incredible fun! We got along very well. I didn’t even know his age; I thought maybe he was in his late twenties, early thirties. I screamed when I found out his age. He was 39 and I was 20! Well, eventually it was my mum who gave me the go ahead because she saw how serious I was with him and hadn’t seen me that serious with anyone. My dad was worried about the age difference but my mum was able to make him see reasons.
“I remember he proposed when we went for dinner and a Greek meal was served. I think he got the people in the restaurant involved in the whole arrangement; oh…it was just so romantic!” Joke says.
There were rumours about us considering divorce. It’s not like we actually separated but I must confess we were so close to it; it was really a tough time for both of us being a media couple. When you are not in the face of the media, it’s easier to resolve your differences, but when you are, it’s almost like you are not staying together for YOU because you are wondering, “What would people say?” And this mounts pressure. But I have to confess, I thank God for good friends because they talked to each party and brought solutions that I never thought were solutions…There’s a lot of societal pressure that makes men not be themselves. A man should be allowed to be vulnerable, strong, supportive, sometimes challenged and needing somebody to help him through and he should also be there for the person as well. On a parting note, for those couples about to jump the broom, go ahead and do it! Go in and enjoy each other; enjoy every moment of your marriage.
This is what Olu has to say
“ It is always good when God gives you your friend as spouse, when you meet your friend as your wife, life would be much easier because when others fail, you would succeed with friendship. Joke is more than a friend to me, she is a mother, a friend and a very caring, generous and deep person”
Fela and Tara Durotoye:  Of course you all know Fela and Tara, who doesn’t! Fela is a motivational speaker and business coach and Tara is an entrepreneur – she runs the popular House of Tara.
Need we say more about how they help and complement each other? Many Nigerian men were challenged by the action of Mr Fantasic himself (Fela Durotoye) when he published a public love letter to his wife in celebration of their forth wedding anniversary, six years ago.
Tara Durotoye  (or Tara Fela-Durotoye, as she prefers to be called) is the pioneer of the Nigerian beauty industry. As for the love of her life, he’s passionately crazy about the amazing potential of Nigeria and believes that Nigeria can be the greatest country on earth. He is a man with vision and utmost respect for God. They are celebrities and have won different awards both locally and internationally in their endeavours.
After ten years of marriage, their love is waxing stronger without letting their fame, achievements and success get into their heads. They understand the concept of marriage and “manage”.
This is what Fela Said to Tara on their fourth wedding anniversary:
We’ve defied the law of “love fades away’. With you, it’s LOVE GROWS. I don’t know how you make me but I find myself waking up each day loving you more. You know it’s true every time I tell you that I love you greatly but I also like you amazingly. Remember the text I sent to you on how much just speaking to you on the phone is like oxygen? Perhaps, that’s why we call each other every hour we are not together.
I am committed to working with God to bring out the best you that God has put in you. I am determined on seeing all of God’s dreams for you come to pass. Today, it’s House of Tara, in a short while, the WORLD OF TARA would soon become a reality, the
multi-national empire that reveals the real beauty in every woman from the four corners of the world.”
Awwww, such love ….
Tunde and Wunmi Obe (T.W.O):  Tunde and Wunmi have been singing together right from university days. They’ve always been working together in whatever venture they get into. They are all-round entertainers, and have carved a niche for themselves with their peculliar type of music. They are also believed to be the entertainment industry’s most popular celebrity.
Wunmi says “I love him. I love him so very much, he is my greatest companion. We still disagree sometimes, but I think when two people come together and pray over something it will always end up a happy story.”
Noting that Tunde “didn’t toast her before they got married” she said “it was  gradual, when we both met, we had a working relationship and it wasn’t something that we planned, but eventually we saw it happening.
Tunde: “I love my wife with every fiber of my body. Even if you want me to tell everybody in the world that I love her, I will even do more than that.
Tunde tells what has kept them together “First and foremost, it is God. Without Him, we couldn’t have lasted this long and secondly, there is this mutual respect. And from the beginning she saw me as someone who had something to offer. And it’s vice versa. She matches up with me intellectually and socially. You should marry someone that can measure up to your intelligence. We also communicate a lot, and the respect between us makes it easier. I see her as my equal, I don’t talk to her in a condescending manner, neither do I use derogatory words for her. There is also the love factor, but we also made up our minds that we were going to ensure it works.”
They have three kids, the eldest Modesayo is 9, Ricardo is 7, while the last born Andrew is 5.
2face Idibia and Annie Macauley: Despite fathering other children, the African Queen crooner declared his undying love for his self proclaimed African queen in a beautiful proposal on Feb 14th 2012.
Since then,he has spared no expense in ensuring Annie is well taken care of like the queen she is.
Their love story is not only a beautiful one,but an inspiring one. Their ‘elaborate’ white wedding is taking place on March 23.
2face says “Having kids has made me responsible…Being a father has also made me respect women a lot…Family for me is the ultimate coverage. It’s the people that have unconditional love for you and who will be there no matter what happens…I don’t know why I always want to be around Annie. Love is understanding, so, for me, I don’t think there is anything fairytale about love.
I just believe that if there is this person you can cope with or blend with, for some reasons you cannot explain, you just want to hang with this person all the time and anytime you are not with that person, there is something missing, then you can describe that as love.”
Soni and Betty Irabor:  Soni is a Broadcaster and Betty a journalist, author and publisher. She was recently featured on the 10th edition of her magazine ‘Genevieve” where she talked about her humble beginnings and shared inspiring stories!
They complement each other and make up for each other’s weaknesses. Hear what Betty has to say
“The truth about marriage is that there isn’t one that is perfect. We are talking about strangers meeting, courting each other and deciding to spend the rest of their lives together. There could be things that could create a strain in the early years of the marriage, but marriage in itself is a relationship where you continue to learn…So we must continue to feed our marriages with love, appreciate the other person and know that neither the wife nor the husband is a magician. So don’t expect that your husband would know that right now you are not feeling happy. The only way he would know is by telling him, so stop over-expectation. People are full of expectations in marriage and that can create a lot of strain…Let your marriage be your marriage. As much as possible, lock out people who don’t need to be part of the marriage. Marriage is all about what you put into it.”
Omotola Jalade and Captain Ekeinde: And there’s the Omotola Jalade who didn’t love her husband at first but whenever she speaks about him, her face lights up in a smile. “If I had not married him, I would not have married anyone else.” She says in excitement.
And this is quite understandable, as their union of 16 years has weathered the storm and is one of the few in the industry that is scandal free. As a veteran in the marriage business, Omosexy, as the actress is fondly called reveals that the love was not instantaneous. “I always tell people that when I met him. I was not in love with him but he says for him it was love at first sight so I had to grow to love him. I was attracted to him because of his maturity. I saw the ability for him to see me. I mean, he knows me more than I know myself. It is just weird I can’t explain. You just can’t get it. But he feels my pain, it is easy for him.”
When their paths first crossed, a young Omotola had just lost her father; hence the emotional trauma she was experiencing at that time was overwhelming.
Then her husband showed up with a ray of hope and then she fell for his charming nature.
Describing her husband as her love ‘therapist’, Ekeinde attributes her spiritual growth to her husband. “I have even gone closer to Christ because of his exemplary behavior and the way he handles things. With the maturity I find in him, I can admire that and then emulate him. That is the connection and the way I have been able to live with him.”
During a recent crisis – claiming that her husband was sacked by Air Nigeria and seriously searching for a new job,- she stood by her man, and defended him. She boldly declared that “there’s nothing to worry about. I and my family are fine” and that was she effectively managed the crisis.
Oh by the way, she recently hit 1million likes on facebook.
So there you have it. for the love story!!!
Have a beautiful Valentine’s day celebration!

Whitney Houston's Daughter Is Pregnant

Bobbi Kristina Brown is pregnant and suicidal, screams the National Enquirercover.
The tabloid includes a picture purporting to show the teenager’s alleged baby “bump,” and writes, “One year after Whitney Houston’s tragic death, family members fear that her emotionally fragile daughter Bobbi Kristina is both pregnant and suicidal.”
A so-called “insider” tells the Enquirer, “For weeks she’s been looking like she’s pregnant, and it’s a big worry because she has gone off the rails again, suffering deep depression.”
The magazine, which has recently published a number of false stories about Brown, claims her family believes she needs intervention to “pull her back from the brink of crisis.”
The Enquirer alleges that the teen’s behavior has recently become “frightening” and that “anything might send her over the edge” as the anniversary of Houston’s death approached.
Except the real Brown — not the “off the rails” Enquirer version — seems to be coping calmly and maturely.
“Home with love @nickdgordon **relaxing** having my only for my mom week ** she deserves it, she deserves the best especially in respect,” tweeted Brown on Tuesday.
What about the supposed pregnancy?
The Enquirer doesn’t bother giving any details, and fails even to identify Gordon or anyone else as the potential father.
The reason is simple: SHE’S NOT PREGNANT.
And when there’s no baby in the next nine months, the Enquirer will probably try to make everyone forget it splashed the false claim all over its cover.
A source close to Brown tells Gossip Cop the story is beyond “ridiculous.”
