"We Worked Hard, But Now We Are Ignored" - Keshi's Backroom Staff Cry Out

Super Eagles backroom staff are disappointed coach Stephen Keshi has not fought for them after they missed out on the government's largesse.
"We Worked Hard, But Now We Are Ignored" - Keshi's Backroom Staff Cry Out
Keshi, his assistant coaches and players were rewarded by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan with national honours and plots of land in Abuja for winning the 2013 AFCON.
But the backroom staff like equipment manager, security and medical staff attached to the team were only given N2m each.
The Eagles were in Delta this week for special victory reception by the state government without most of these shattered backroom staff.
DON'T MISS:
One of the backroom staff told MTNFootball.com, "We worked hard for this team, but when it came to reaping the reward of our hard work, we were virtually left out.
"Keshi has still not deemed it fit to make it known to the Presidency that he did not win this trophy only with his coaches and players, but some of us who had to work round the clock to ensure everything was in place for the team.
"Do you know that in 2005, when Samson Siasia led Nigeria to win the AYC, his backroom staff were left out by the government, but he was prompt to point out this omission to President Olusegun Obasanjo and they were each given N500,000, just like other members of the squad?"
Another backroom staff added, "This was a person who was known to fight for others when he was skipper of the national team. That was why he got the nickname 'Big Boss'. But this is not the case now.
"If anybody could convince the President to consider us, that person would be Keshi because he now has direct access to Jonathan."
President-General of the Nigerian Supporters Club Rafiu Ladipo received a standing ovation on Wednesday when he pointed out that the Eagles backroom staff were overlooked by President Jonathan.

My Baby Dad Left Me On Valentine’s Day – Popular Ghanaian Radio Presenter

The affable and popular female presenter, Caroline Sampson of YFM, has revealed that the father of her child walked out of her life way before their baby was born and the breakup happened on Valentine’s Day.
Caroline, also a model and rapper, said she was on air presenting a radio programme when the said incident happened and that Sammy Forson (Sarkodie’s manager) partly contributed to the breakup.
Interestingly, Caroline has not disclosed the identity of her baby daddy, although the child is doing marvelously well.
According to Caroline, she was heart-broken by the incident and things got worse when she realized she was pregnant for him three months after he walked out of her life.
Her lover could not call her to break the sad news to her himself. He rather sent a message through a friend to tell her that it was all over.
That night, she wept and couldn’t talk on her radio show when she got the message. For her, since then, Val’s Day brought back only sad memories.
“I still don’t get it but that’s what he did…I cried. It is like the only thing that comes to me when I think about it; like Valentine’s Day paaa. We were out the previous night.
We were not together but we ended up at the same place. If he was hiding and I caught him then I don’t know, then the next day he sent somebody to tell me that it’s over ooo.”
“What is funny about this is that Sammy Forson (YFM presenter) is in there somewhere. Sammy Forson, Benny Blanco, Peer Pressure and Reggie Rockstone ….It was Sammy Forson, he caused it from day one.
He gave me this voice-over job and I was recording it at the station (Citi FM) that I worked.
He was going to come for it and I waited and waited for him. Like 11 to midnight this guy (Sammy) wasn’t coming.
So the guy (baby daddy) called and asked me where I was and I told him I was at the station waiting for Sammy Forson and he thought I was lying.
That was what happened; it was a week to Valentine. So the whole week, I didn’t hear from him because I was at the station working for Sammy Forson.
And then when I met him at Reggie Rockstone’s Office, the club, Benny Blanco them {sic} saw me and were giving me fans.
So I’m sure the guy thought that we were doing it to spite him and then the next day which is Valentine, he called his friend to call me aaah…it was like a joke.
And then three months later I realized…” she tried to explain what really happenned.
Caroline was speaking on Jeremie Van-Garshong’s hot show on YFM on Monday evening when she made the revelation.
Jeremie asked her and some other presenters in the studio to narrate their heart-breaking experiences in the past and she decided to spill the beans.
She had made a similar revelation on Delay’s show sometime last year. The current revelation makes it the second time she is talking about the situation in public.
Meanwhile, she didn’t disclose whether they guy had comeback to take his responsibilities as the baby’s dad.
Her baby made news in the media when he was born. He was in Leila Djansi’s movie, ‘Ties That Bind’.

I Have Suddenly Become A Villain For Saving The Country Billions Of Naira – Maina Laments

mania_502660335Embattled Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Dr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has gone underground as it emerged that more than ever before, the manhunt for him has intensified.
On Thursday, Senators overwhelmingly supported the call for President Jonathan to sack Maina as well as his arrest by the Nigeria Police. To indicate its seriousness, the Senate gave the President 48 hours within which to sack him or face its wrath.
Maina who alleged that the Pension cabal was after his life and not just his sack, Spoke from hiding yesterday. He embattled said, “I am fast losing confidence in the country called Nigeria.
“Imagine, I have suddenly become a villain for saving the country billions of naira, being stolen daily by pension thieves.
“I’m saddened, demoralised by the whole mess. It is baffling that the hunter has become the hunted. It is simply ridiculous. How can one continue to fight for the country and the poor pensioners, when the system is so rotten to the effect that the thief catcher is being branded as the thief?” he lamented.
“Already, I have gone to court to redeem my name, save my team, with a view to go further to expose the big names behind the cabal. But with what I have seen so far, I doubt if Nigeria is worth dying for,” Maina added

Model Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead at his home near Pretoria on Thursday.
An application for bail was postponed until next Tuesday and Mr Pistorius, 26, will remain in police custody.
The athlete later said in a statement released by his agent that he disputed the charge in the "strongest terms".
The statement also said that "firstly, and most importantly, all our thoughts today must be with the family and friends of Reeva Steenkamp".

'Traumatised'
Dozens of reporters were in the courtroom in Pretoria on Friday, where chief magistrate Desmond Nair was presiding.
The BBC's Andrew Harding, at the scene, said the defendant cut a lonely figure, holding his head forward and breathing heavily through tears.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel argued for a "premeditated murder" charge. Mr Pistorius slumped forward at the mention of the words.
Media access was discussed at the 40-minute session and the magistrate ruled that there should be no live recording of the bail hearings.
Mr Pistorius's team had argued against such coverage and cited his "extremely traumatised state of mind".
Both prosecution and defence agreed Mr Pistorius could remain in custody at a police station and not in prison.
Members of Mr Pistorius's family, including sister Aimee, brother Carl and father Henke, were in the courtroom.
Relatives reached forward to touch Mr Pistorius's shoulder as he stood and left the courtroom at the end of proceedings.
Mr Pistorius had earlier arrived at court in the back of a police vehicle, hiding his face with a jacket and notebook.
Forensic experts are expected to continue examining the house in the Silver Lakes area on the outskirts of South Africa's administrative capital where Ms Steenkamp, 29, died.
Correspondents say the athlete's arrest has stunned the country where he is considered a national hero. He made history in London last year when he became the first double-amputee track athlete to compete in the Olympic Games.
Oscar Pistorius Popularly known as "blade runner", he was born without a fibula in both legs Won a key legal battle in 2008, when athletics' governing body, the IAAF, allowed him to compete against able-bodied athletes Made history in London 2012 by becoming the first amputee sprinter to compete in the Olympics Apologised after claiming that his rival, Brazilian Alan Oliveira, was wearing blades that were too long in the 2012 Paralympics 200m final He is known as the "blade runner" because of the carbon fibre prosthetic blades he races in. He was born without a fibula in both legs and had his legs amputated below the knee before his first birthday.
Police were called to his home in the early hours of Thursday morning.
They found paramedics treating a 29-year-old woman with four gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. She died at the scene, and officers recovered a 9mm pistol.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on Friday but the results will not be made public, police said.
Mr Pistorius and Ms Steenkamp had reportedly been dating since November.
Mr Pistorius dominated in his category at successive Paralympic Games, but in 2008 he won a legal battle over his blades - which critics said gave him an unfair advantage - with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for the right to compete in able-bodied competitions.
He reached the 400m semi-finals in the London 2012 Olympics. At the Paralympics he won silver in the T44 200m, gold in the 4x100 relay and gold in the T44 400m, setting a Paralympic record.
South Africa has one of the highest rates of crime in the world and many residents keep weapons to protect themselves against intruders.
But gun ownership is strictly regulated and it is not easy to obtain a licence.

Ezu River: Tales Of Missing Persons As Senators Probe Possible Police Killings; Gov. Obi Ordered Burial of Corpses – CP

Gov. Peter Obi and police commissioner
Two days ago, a joint sitting of two Senate committees meeting in Awka, the Anambra State capital, heard that ten detainees in police custody may have been killed and dumped into the Ezu River at Amansea. Nigerians were horrified when members of the Amansea community raised alarms after finding numerous corpses floating on the Ezu River on January 19, 2013. So far, there has been no official word on the identity of the corpses.
However, witnesses who appeared before the joint committees suggested that the corpses were likely those of detainees killed by officers of the Nigerian Police which is notorious for extra-judicial executions. The senators were told that the police had denied the families of the ten missing persons access to them from October 22, 2012 till now.
The Senate committee on Police Affairs, led by Igwe Paulinus Nwagu, and the committee on Security and Intelligence, led by Mohammed Magoro, held their public hearing Tuesday at the multipurpose hall in Government House, Awka. Among the witnesses was Uwaneke Udegbunam, a lawyer, who narrated the harrowing account of one Chiekezie Obiofor, his client and relative, from Omor town in Ayamelum local government area. Mr. Udegbunam stated that officers of the Anambra Police Command arrested his client on October 22, 2012. According to him, his client and two other men, PraiseGod Ndumanya and Chinwuba Okoye, were taken into custody at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area.
The lawyer disclosed that the police in Awkuzu initially denied having Mr Obiofor in their custody, but he was assured by a high-level contact that his client was indeed taken to SARS, Awkuzu. Unable to bail his client, he filed a court case November 12, 2012. In court, the police asserted that his client had died, but failed to release his remains.
The lawyer pleaded with the Senate committee to call for all the files submitted by the police to the Anambra State Ministry of Justice which are labeled “Sudden and Untimely Death” (SUD). The files, he said, would help the committee reach the truth about what happened in Amansea and about a culture of extra-judicial killings in Anambra State. Mr. Udegbunam said he stumbled on a case where a dead person supposedly deposited his own body in the morgue, stating that the receipt for morgue payment was issued in the deceased’s name. The lawyer implored the senators to order the police to release the body of his client to assure the man’s family that he was not among those thrown into the Ezu River.
Also testifying before the panel, an official of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) insisted that nine of their members were arrested on November 9, 2012 and had not been allowed access to their families or MASSOB officials.
Uche Madu, MASSOB’s director of information, asserted that they had received information that the police killed their members and dumped them in the river. He told the committee that MASSOB received reports of the extra-judicial killings one week before the bodies were discovered in the river. He added that the denial by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police was untrue.
Asked why it took his organization three weeks to react, Mr. Madu said that they decided to conduct a thorough investigation first, adding that “as long as the bodies are still kept in the morgue, we can still go and identify them.”
Senator Nwagu ruled that MASSOB’s testimony should be documented and asked the movement’s officials to further testify before the Senate committee in Abuja along with the relatives of the deceased.
Testifying earlier, the Anambra State Police Commissioner, the state Commissioner for Health, and the transition chairman for Awka North local government area denied ordering the burial of the floating corpses. The police commissioner, Mr. Nasarawa, told the committee that, after his officers’ arrival at the scene, Governor Peter Obi had directed him to bury the bodies. However, he testified that he told the governor that it was not the duty of the police to bury corpses. The governor then called on the chairman caretaker committee of Awka North local government, who reportedly said it was not the responsibility of her council. The police commissioner then said Mr. Obi ordered both the police and the Awka North council to see that the bodies were buried.
The police commissioner’s testimony at the public hearing sharply contrasted with his earlier claim at the bridge that members of the local community in Amansea had buried the corpses without the knowledge of the police.
When asked at the bridge by Senator Nwagu if blood stains were found on top of the bridge, Mr. Nasarawa simply said, “We have not found any.” His claim surprised reporters who had reported the presence of blood stains when the story broke.
The Enugu State Police Commissioner, Musa Daura, answered in the negative when asked if other communities along the course of Ezu River had been questioned about the corpses.
Horrified members of the Amansea community discovered close to 50 bodies on January 19, 2012. The raised an alarm which prompted the visit of the Anambra State Police Commissioner and, later, the state Commissioner for Local Governments who told the media that Governor Obi was abroad but had been briefed about the dreadful discoveries.
Mr. Obi later visited the scene on January 21 and offered N5 million for anyone with useful information to solve the mystery of the dead bodies. The police confirmed recovery of 18 bodies, out of which three were reportedly taken for autopsy while 15 were said to be buried at the bank of the river, without identification.
However, when Senator Chris Ngige visited the scene on January 24, reporters spotted two bodies and blood stains were seen on the bridge. Residents of Amansea also reported that two other bodies were discovered two days earlier, on January 22.
On January 28, 2012, pathologists from the Nigeria Police and the Anambra State Government visited the bank of Ezu River in response to public outcry and to media reports about “shocking discoveries” on the three bodies earlier subjected to autopsy. The police and state officials promised to exhume the buried bodies for autopsies as well. In addition, they took away new bodies from the site to an unknown destination.
Many observers were taken aback when the police claimed on Monday that the total number of bodies was 19. That claim was echoed by the Secretary to the state government, Oseloka Obaze, during the Senate’s fact-finding mission on Tuesday.
The Senate hearing has moved to Enugu.
