2015: We’ll give women more attention if we get the mandate – APC

imageThe interim national women leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mrs. Sharon Ikeazor, has said that the party would give women more attention if given the mandate in the 2015 presidential election.
She gave this assurance on Monday at a workshop organised by APC in collaboration with the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Abuja.
According to her, APC plans to build on its reputation as an advocate of gender equality in the country.
Also speaking at the event, the Director general of IRI, Mrs Robina Namusisi, said the workshop was aimed at supporting women empowerment.
According to Namusisi, IRI will use the workshop to teach oand promote women advocacy in the country.
“Adequate awareness and networking will help in addressing legal framework towards women empowerment,” she said.
Mrs Olufunke Owoseni, APC women leader in Ekiti, said the workshop came at the right time because women should be well informed on leadership.
“Women are participating in politics now, but APC is more assuring in women representation,” she said.
In the same vein, the Deputy National Chairman (North-East) of the party, Alhaji Umar Duhu said APC was gender friendly and had allowed for more women participation in affairs of the party.
His words, “We believe women should participate in every sphere of life, so that they can get equality rather than 35 percent affirmation.”

How Stella Oduah And Cronies Plundered The Nigerian Aviation Sector- Insider Account

Stella Oduah

By Edith John
Recent happenings in the Aviation industry in general and in particular; the government Agency saddled with the regulatory responsibility of civil Aviation in Nigeria; The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has thrown up a number of ethical issues which borders on professionalism, integrity, loyalty, patriotism and trust.
This piece seeks to dissect the fact leading to the build-up to the Oduagate Bullet-proof car saga, so as to shed further light on the imbroglio.
The unceremonious removal of the erstwhile Director-General of NCAA; Harold Demuren as a fallout of the DANA air crash incident, despite his achievement for the Nigerian Air travel industry was cleverly orchestrated to create the much needed lacuna for official high-handedness and graft.
It will be recalled that Minister of Aviation Stella Odua removed two of the parastatal Chiefs under her watch viz; Richard Aisebugbu who was MD of Federal Airports Authority Of Nigeria (FAAN), and Alhaji Auyo who was the MD of NAMA all in one fell swoop, leaving only Harold Demuren of NCAA.
She immediately shopped for more docile and subservient persons who will not only dance to her tunes without asking questions but also will even go the extra mile to protect her interest. This exercise, which ordinarily appears as a normal repositioning effort by her, brought up Mazi Nnamdi Udoh (Current MD of NAMA) and George Uresi (MD of FAAN). These two were found to posses all the needed character and were taken to Oduah to pledge their loyalty to “the cause”.
It will further be recalled that Harold Demuren of NCAA had emerged as the doyen of the industry by this time, having successfully repositioned the Industry in addition to leading Nigeria to earn the much coveted CAT 1 Status from America, He was then being celebrated both locally and abroad and so Oduah was in a fix and could not immediately remove him.
Harold Demuren grounded Dana Airline after its crash, government investigated the crash, compensations were paid to victims family, the airline fleet was re-audited and on the order of the Minister Of Aviation, Demuren cleared the Airline to resume flight operation, not knowing he will be made the fall guy for these.
Despite former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s passionate appeal to President Jonathan to let Demuren remain on his job, as well as interventions of well meaning Nigerians, Odua hand-twisted President Jonathan to unceremoniously sack the man on the basis of one air crash within a spate of about five years crash free record.
It is noteworthy that Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA  who was brought in by Odua, contributed in no small measure to Demuren’s exit by regularly feeding his principal false allegations about Demuren. It was a gang-up of sort against the regulatory agency (NCAA), with George Uresi of FAAN, Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA and the Minister all tearing ferociously at the soul of NCAA.
The era of Dog eat dog has fully evolved in the Aviation Industry.
It is instructive to know that on the eve of Demuren’s departure from NCAA, he was inclined to hand over the organization to the most senior among his Directors in person of one Abdullahi Adamu from Bauchi State; a seasoned career civil servant with about 30 years industry experience, but he (Demuren) was ordered by the Minister to hand over to Joyce Nkemakolam who just became Director at NCAA the same month.
Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA as the only trusted hand they could work with recommended Joyce Nkemakolamm to the Minister. Both Joy and Nnamdi udoh are long-standing brothers who came from the same village in Arochukwu in Anambra State. Both were air traffic officers, both entered civil service the same month and year. Nnamdi udoh could not have found a better replacement to Demuren than this.
Suffice to say that Joy Nkemakolam the new acting Dg of NCAA never had any formal education, not even an OND; He rose between the ranks as a complacent civil servant for about 30 years. Perhaps the only gift he has which brought him to the fore was his docility, subservience, malleability and cooperativeness.
Within a spate of about 4 months, the regulatory authority (NCAA’s) autonomy was surrendered sheepishly by Joy Nkemakola backed by Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA to the Minister and by extension the Aviation Ministry.
The stage is now set for the Plunder and gathering of the spoils of war.
The current Oduahgate armored car saga is just a fraction of the atrocious financial recklessness jointly perpetrated on aviation agencies finances by the team Oduah comprising of the Minister, Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA, George uresi of FAAN, Joy Nkemakola of NCAA, Ene Ita (former perm Sec, now Presidential Adviser) and Aviation Ministry Officials.
Oduah soon turned a highly professional, compartmentalized and sensitive industry where each person has his specific duties into a single unit where anybody is ordered to do any other person’s work.
Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA an air traffic controller soon begin to clear Aircraft for takeoff on the Tarmarc, (a statutory duty of NCAA). He it was who cleared Dana aircraft upon its recertification by NCAA.
Yakubu Datti of FAAN soon became the spokesman of NCAA (operator speaking on behalf of regulator), speaking on safety and security issues, avionics, aircraft engineering matters and air crashes. No wonder the apparent confusion and double-speaking over the last air crash.
The rape on the regulatory agency (NCAA) was quite tortuous and bleeding, but the hapless agency eagerly awaits a substantive Director General who will at least take charge of things, heal her wounds and restore part of her battered dignity.
Association of airline Pilots and other concerned stakeholders observed the ugly trend of events in the industry early enough, voiced their fears and even feebly tried to get the attention of president Jonathan and the Minister herself, but it does appears that the Minister has successfully pulled a wool over the eyes and ears of the senate, house of reps and the President with her celebrated but hollow new airports buildings.
The airport remodeling itself is a grandiose, stage-managed deception which served as a conduit pipe to siphon money by the Minister, imagine under-aged Chinese technical school dropouts sharing millions of dollars of our Bilateral Air service Agreements money with Oduah and building us a replica of their low quality china town as airports; never in the history of Nigeria have we been so beguiled and cheated.
Oduah used George Uresi of FAAN to steal billions under the Airport remodeling charade, She plundered the BASA fund which NCAA had painstakingly gathered up, She took over the control of Aviation agencies revenue by unilaterally concessioning out the revenue generation of the agencies to a consortium of private firms namely Avicollect and First bank Plc on an outrageously high percentage basis.
On top of it all, because the agencies funds domiciled at first bank is within her reach, she removes as much as she wants in both local and foreign currencies from the holding account even before the agencies gets to share what is left.
She placed a monthly standing order for deduction of millions on the accounts of the agencies and it is instructive to note that all transactions relating to the purchase of about six exotic cars for odua were all made by standing order deduction at source from the agencies account.
As the search for a substantive head for NCAA begins, Oduah and her cohorts tinkered with the idea of transiting Joy Nkemakola to the Substantive Director- General of the agency.
Oduah and Ene-ita sought the support of the senate Committee on Aviation and the House Committee on Aviation to get Nkemakola into office, Oduah equally mounted pressure on president Jonathan telling him she has seen the only man she could successfully work with.
It took sustained pressure from South west Obas and leaders of thought before president Jonathan agreed to look for a credible alternative from the region.
The emergence of the man Capt. Fola Akinkuotu as the substantive Director-general of NCAA was one borne out of necessity.
While Harold Demuren is an Aircraft Engineer,Akinkuotu is a revered pilot, aircraft inspector cum engineer, seasoned administrator and educationist with over 43 years industry experience. His pedigree and intimidating qualification made President Jonathan to call him forth from the International Aviation College in Ilorin where he was serving out an earlier national assignment.
During his brief stint as the pioneer rector of the Aviation College, he was given a presidential mandate to produce Nigerian first set of locally trained pilots in eighteen months, he did graduated the first set of pilots in sixteen and half months. This was a feat that even the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), which has been in existence for several years had not once achieved.
Akinkoutu encouraged and liaised with several state governments to sponsor their indigene for pilots and aircraft engineers training so as to bridge the gap in the dearth of capable hands in Aviation industry. It is therefore not surprising that this man once again caught the attention of President Jonathan as one who could consolidate the gains recently recorded in the industry.
Akinkuotu professional colleagues in the Pilot association warned him of the danger ahead as the Minister has completely turn the whole industry upside down, The Minister had planted her core loyalists who are obvious strangers to the industry, and are as clueless and bereft of any idea as to how aviation business is conducted within every corner of NCAA. Some of these new entrants are failed politicians who worked alongside her in election campaign; they regularly display utter abhorrence for the civil service system of the regulatory agency, disrespect for the management and brought pollution into the system through their compounded greed and avarice.
While Akinkuotu obviously stoically took his nomination as a higher call to serve his fatherland and awaited his confirmation by the Nigerian senate, team Oduah to make sure Akinkuotu confirmation never see the light of the day was hatching another plot.
Intrigues and delays accompanied the senate invitation giving Akinkuotu, The Minister who was supposed to take him along to the senate for clearance abandoned him, and left the shores of Nigeria on various aviation road show exercise to different countries, into which millions of the Aviation Agencies money was spent. NAMA, FAAN and NCAA never fully recovered from the financial quagmire into which they were plunged as a result of the Aviation road show jamboree.
Oduah did not honor Senate Invitation to present Akinkuotu for screening for three and half months, She was frantically deploying all in her arsenal not only to frustrate the screening process, but also to perpetually keep her stooge Nkemakolam on the saddle, to plunder as much as possible for her.
Several phony supply contracts, Consultancy services contracts and Personnel training Contracts were awarded in NAMA NCAA and FAAN during this period.
When it seems the senate will go ahead with the screening with or without her after their recess, she began to reorganize the Agencies to her favor and stepped up looting process through her stooges in charge at the three agencies.
Unending training of hundreds of fictitious Ministry staffs both overseas and locally, is the order of the day. Each local training was being awarded at outrageous cost between 200,000 and 300,000 Naira per participants, Foreign training which were never attended were arranged and foreign currencies paid out to Ministry staffs, all these while the NAMA, FAAN and NCAA were still grappling with the issue of their mandatory internal staff training due to lack of funds.
These atrocities clearly predated Akinkuotu taking over of office and none of it should be hanged on his neck.
Even when Akinkuotu nomination was eventually ratified by the senate after almost three and half months, Joy Nkemakolam continued to hurriedly sign and backdate contracts approvals, employment letters and other financial transactions and whether he has stopped this backdating of approvals cannot be ascertained because our source reveals that new employees still daily turn up with backdated employment letters bearing Joy Nkemakolam’s signature in their droves at NCAA up to date.
During the period of the senseless looting spree, Nnamdi Udoh and Joy Nkemakola bought several properties in Lagos (Maryland area specifically) and the east, the duo tarred an entire stretch of road in their village arochuckwu and this earned them Chieftaincy titles from the Arochuckwu monarch.
We deeply sympathize with Fola Akinkotun who is presently between the devil and the deep blue sea and have now being given the unsavory task of clearing his friendly- enemies’ names over the atrocities they all colluded to commit when he (Akinkuotu) had not taken over control at NCAA.
The head of the Nigerian masses, Posterity and perhaps the blood of all the victims of air crashes that occurred under Oduah’s watch will judge the thieving Oduah Crew.
For now, President Jonathan should set aside party affiliation between himself and Oduah, rise above any temporal sentiment and do what all Nigerian expect of him, to sort out the Nigerian Aviation Industry, by restoring back full autonomy of NCAA, and breaking the shackles of the Ministry of Aviation away from NCAA’s neck.
Then and only then can Akinkuotu pick up the Shattered fragments of the industry and mold it back to a world delight.

THE THREE WISE MEN OF CROSS RIVER STATE.

Okoi Obono-obla
The "wise men" of Cross River State who took the political storm of the State at the end of the military rule in the country in 1998 and successfully toppled the old political establishment are known in Cross River political vocabulary as the " Three Wise Men" They came from diverse but middle class backgrounds. I refer to them as Trioka or Triumvirate. In Roman politics, there was a Committee of Three Rulers who were vested with the responsibility to run public administration or civil authority in the government system of ancient Rome. So Senator Liyel Imoke; Donald Etim Duke and Gershom Bassey in 1998 formed the Trioka. The Trioka took over and have managed the affairs of the State since then. In the Bible, the three wise men in the Book of Matthew 2:1-2 came to Bethlehem from the East to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. They were known individually as Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar (even though the bible does not give us their names, this information was derived from the encyclopedia) and jointly as Three Wise Men or the Three Kings. In the politics of Cross River State, Senator Imoke; Donald Duke and Gershom Bassey are euphemistically referred to as the "Three Wise Men". The Three Wise Men through political sagacity, ruthlessness and paternalism have successfully established themselves as the most powerful and dominant faction of the State political elite. The faction established by the "three wise men" have run the State unchallenged for the past 14 years. The faction has indeed made history for being the faction of the political elite that has led the State the longest since it was created on the 27th May, 1967. I must confess, I admire these "three wise men" for their courage, vision and drive. However I detest with vehemence their machiavelian and opportunistic variant of politics. In 1998, the "three wise men" were young men. They had no strong financial muscles. They were dismissed as political novices by the then political establishment. Only one of them, Senator Liyel Samuel Imoke had some political experience as a member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 1992-1993. Donald Duke came into limelight when he was appointed Commissioner of Finance by the then Governor, Clement Ebri (CON) in 1992. Gershom Bassey was the obscure political figure among the three wise men then in 1998. Their middle class families revealed thus: Senator Imoke's father, Dr. Samuel Imoke was a Minister of Education in the 1950s in the defunct Eastern Region. Donald Duke's Father, Etim Duke was a Director in the Nigeria Customs Service and Gershom Bassey's father, I understand was a Pharmacist. So the three wise men decided that Donald Duke should run for the Governor ship of Cross River State in 1998 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. Undoubtedly the three wise men had some advantage over most of the politicians from the State. They had cosmopolitan taste and sophistication. They had virility, swagger, agility and national political networks and connections with some national powerful and influential political blocs across the country. Imoke attended Mary Knoll College, Ogoja, and Federal Government College, Enugu, in the 1970s for his Secondary School. Duke attended Federal Government College, Sokoto, for his Secondary Education and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira, in Northern Nigeria. So Imoke and Duke had some national visibility on account of old school boy network and contact. They immensely and effectively exploited these to their advantage. When Duke challenged the eminent lawyer, Kanu Godwin Agabi (SAN) for the Governor-ship ticket of the PDP in 1998, pundits did not give him a chance. Kanu Godwin Agabi was a relation of Chief I. I. Murphy of Ogoja. Chief Murphy represented Ogoja Urban in the defunct Eastern Nigeria House of Assembly in 1950s under the platform of the NCNC but switched to the Action Group as a result of the crisis that erupted in the NCNC in 1953. When Dr. Azikiwe failed in his bid to become the Leader of Government Business in the Western Region House of Assembly, after his Party (NCNC) won more seats in the Western Regional Assembly, he returned to his home region, Eastern Nigeria. The NCNC exerted pressure on Professor Eyo Ita, who was Leader of Government Business in the Eastern Regional House of Assembly to resign to pave way for Dr. Azikiwe. The members of the Eastern Regional Assembly from the present Akwa Ibom, Cross River State, Bayelsa and Rivers State led by Dr. Okoi Arikpo; Chief I. I. Murphy; Professor Eni Njoku (from Arochukwu) vehemently protested against the treatment meted out to Professor Ita, decamped from the NCNC and formed the United Nigerian Independence Party, UNIP. The UNIP later allied with Action Group and started agitation for the creation of the Calabar, Rivers and Ogoja State. Chief Murphy was appointed a Commissioner by Brigadier Jacob Udoka Esuene in 1968 in the defunct South Eastern State. In 1979, President Shehu Shagari appointed Chief Murphy, Chairman of New Nigeria Newspapers Limited, Kaduna. Chief Murphy was one of the bigwigs of the then National Party of Nigeria, NPN. Unexpectedly, Dr. Clement Isong, who was elected Governor of the old Cross River State in 1979 under NPN, appointed Kanu Godwin Agabi, Commissioner of Finance. Kanu Agabi later resigned after disagreement with Governor Isong over policy implementation. Dr. Isong was the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria between 1967-1975. Kanu Agabi had shot into national limelight when he was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria, NICON. He was about 28 years old. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1971. He graduated from the University of Lagos in 1970. In the 1970-1990s, NICON was rated the biggest insurance concern in sub Sahara Africa. It was Kanu Agabi as Chairman of the Board of NICON that awarded the contract for the construction of NICON HILTON Hotel, Abuja (now Transcorp). Kanu Agabi was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1997 for legal scholarship and excellence. Kanu Agabi was perceived as brilliant, generous and enjoyed tremendous goodwill throughout the State. However despite Agabi's dazzling credentials and high State and National political visibility he curiously lost the PDP Governor ship Primary Election to Duke. Some political commentators attributed the victory of Duke over Agabi to the political shrewdness and manoeuvrability of the duo of Imoke and Duke. Imoke had a facade of a quiet, taciturn and harmless. But underneath the facade, he is ruthless, calculating, intelligent and a shrew political operator. Duke is charismatic, intelligent, eloquent and ruthless. Duke has the uncanny ability to use charm and wit to unarm his unsuspecting detractors and opponents. Gershom Bassey 's character is an ad mixture of calm, introvert and ruthlessness. These three are the "three wise men" who have cast a spell on the politics of Cross River State to the extent that they have attained the status of political indispensables. The three wise took time to study and understand the dynamics, political sociology and psychology of both the elite and the masses of the State so much so that it seems for now no other faction of political elite can match them. They also seem to have a divine way of papering their differences and disagreements. Although there seems to be a crack between Imoke and Duke the duo have successfully managed it to the extent sometimes it is difficult for observers to agree that there is a disagreement between them. Imoke has declared that he will support a candidate from his Party from Northern Senatorial District of the State to become Governor come 2015. However this assurances has done little to dispel speculation and rumor that he is angling to anoint one of the three wise men, Gershom Bassey as the next Governor from his Party. Pundits say that the Gershom Bassey was favoured more in the selection of Chairmen and Councillors candidates under the platform of the PDP for the local government elections in the Southern Senatorial District of the State. This is surmised as an indication that Imoke wants to give his political machinery an advantageous position. As 2015 inches closer it is clear that other political factions in the State that dreams to break the stranglehold of the three wise men have to do more. However for now there is no glimmer of hope that the three wise men are ready to concede to other political factions save there occurs a political earthquake in the State. Are we ready to rock the boat and de-mystify these men?

We’ll take over the FG in 2015 – Buhari

THE SUN NEWSPAPER
BUHARILeaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday talked tough, boasting that they would not only sack the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Presidency in 2015 but also react if the Anambra governorship election is rigged.
Speaking in Benin, the Edo State capital, at the fifth anniversary celebration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s government, both General Mohammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said a time had come for change in the country.
Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra, Tinubu threatened that the APC would react if the election was rigged by the PDP, as was the case with the Delta Central Senatorial bye-election.
He stated that the party would not keep quiet if the election was manipulated, while soliciting the support of Edo people and others to ensure that one-man-one-vote prevailed during the election.
The APC leader criticised the Federal Government for churning out economic indices that portrayed rosy picture of the national economy at a time he said there was an army of unemployed graduates in the country.
He praised Adams Oshiomhole and the people of Edo State for voting out PDP and enthroning progress in the state, even as he observed that Governor Oshiomhole has made the people of the state a corner stone of his developmental policy.
“He has shown great commitment and devotion in service to Edo State and the entire country,” Tinubu said and praised Oshiomhole for improved internal revenue generation and radical development of the state.
In his speech, former head of state and national leader of APC, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, said APC was fundamentally known for two things, the economy and security of the country.
“We are determined to stop terrorism and to reconstruct infrastructure. The APC is here to take over in 2015 and manage the economy efficiently,” he said and solicited the support of Edo people for the party.
Also speaking, interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, expressed joy that since the beginning of time, Edo people were ready to be counted among the progressives, observing that the women and youths were the soldiers of democracy who had fought against election rigging.
He, therefore, charged the people of the state to continue in the same light till victory was achieved for the APC, just as former governor of the state, Chief John Odigie Oyegun warned that the battle ahead of APC was not an easy one.
Chief Oyegun, while urging the APC to be ready for every possible eventuality, said the PDP would not surrender power, adding “the APC must seize power, we must capture power,” and advised that mobilisation for 2015 must start now.
Describing Oshiomhole “as our redeemer,” the former governor said Oshiomhole’s greatest achievement was the liberation of the people of the state.
South-South leader of APC, Chief Tom Ikimi, in his speech, said Edo State was a shining example of change in all aspects of life, including leadership.
“We the people of Edo State are determined that we will not go back to what it was 10 years ago. PDP is dead in Edo, Kwara, Sokoto, Rivers and all over the country,” he said, adding that the sky was the limit for Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
In his goodwill message, the Esogban of Benin kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, said the people of the state were now in the land of Cannan to the extent that “those who were working against us are now coming to build mansions and enterprises,” pointing out that Oshiomhole has improved the lots of Benin and Edo State.
“We are happy with the administration that any amount that comes to Edo from Abuja is spent on the state. I want to repeat it now that the new party you people belong to is destined to rule the country.”
Continuing, Chief Edebiri dubbed as the oracle following his prediction that Oshiomhole would win a second term, said “again and again, the same oracle that spoke has spoken that your party (APC) will be in government in Abuja and APC will continue to rule Edo State.”
Adams Oshiomhole in his speech, said the challenge in his second term is to focus on the economy and security, haven created infrastructure during his first term in office.
Expatiating on the issue of security, the governor said he had no regret signing the law, which prescribed death penalty for kidnappers in the state because, according to him, “those who take life should have no right to live.”
He apologised to those who had been victims of kidnapping in the state.
He enumerated his achievements to include roads, schools, electricity, water supply and hospitals across the length and breadth of the state, amongst other projects, saying that his administration has employed over 7000 youths under the Youth Employment Scheme (YES) programme of the state.
He said more than 100 projects completed by his administration were ready for commissioning between now and December, just as he announced that the state government has paid out N36 billion to contractors between last year and this year.
Governor Oshiomhole said one way to measure whether a leader has done well, was to look around and see if those who were with you are still with you.
“I’ve seen that the people are still there. The only regret I have is that my wife with whom I started is no more.”
Recalling his beginning five years ago during which he launched one-man-one-vote, the governor observed that since that time, the state has not been the same again, saying that his party had won all elections.
“Today, the dividends of that struggle are everywhere for all to see,” he said.

Osun 2014: Oyinlola to meet Tinubu

THE DAILY SUN NEWSPAPER
RaufBarring last minute change of mind, plans have been concluded by the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to lead his associates and supporters in the new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over the coming governorship election in the state.
Daily Sun learnt on Monday that Oyinlola had held several meetings with his political associate where the idea of collaborating with the APC over the coming poll ahead of final consideration to join the party later.
A close source to one of the meetings held at Oyinlola’s residence in Okuku, headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state confided in Daily Sun that “the choice of APC in the coming election is borne out of the belief that if a former senator grabs the PDP ticket, he will have the backing of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who is the leader of the Labour Party.”
Governor Mimiko is believed to be a good friend of the senator and former deputy governor, who is believed to be so strong footed in the state chapter of the PDP so much that clinching the party’s ticket in the primaries is almost a foregone conclusion. And if that happens, he will be the automatic leader of the party in the state over Oyinlola, his former boss a situation that no serious politician would detest.
Daily Sun gathered that the meeting was polarized into two factions with one faction supporting joining the Labour Party, while the other was in agreement with Oyinlola over the APC choice.
The faction that preferred the Labour, according to investigation hinged its support for the party on the reported Mimiko’s commitment to support any Labour candidate in any contest, while the other faction was of the conviction that teaming up with the APC would make them equal joiners since the party had not registered its members.
They said following Oyinlola to the APC would be in line with the thinking of the ‘rebel governors’ who were talking with the leadership of the APC about the possibility of belonging to the same party in the event that the old PDP refused to reconcile with them.
Daily Sun can authoritatively report that, it is against that polarization in the team that has led to some of the team members to go ahead to romance with the Labour Party with a view to joining the party and seeking its governorship ticket for the coming election in 2014.
Daily Sun had reported last week that a former commissioner under Oyinlola had concluded plans to declare for the Labour Party and also intend to declare his governorship interest before the end of this month.
A source close to the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregesola, who craved anonymity confided in Daily Sun that “the governor is not unaware of the move by a section of the opposition to have a meeting with him and his party.”

Mafia Going to Assassinate Pope Francis in Response to His Anti-Corruption Sermons

The Mafia is considering a lethal strike on Pope Francis, a senior prosecutor in Italy's crime-torn deep South has warned.
Mafia Going to Assassinate Pope Francis in Response to His Anti-Corruption Sermons
The pontiff's life is in danger because his desire to sweep away corruption in 'a total clean-up' is making organised criminal groups "nervous", the deputy chief prosecutor of Reggio Calabria, Nicola Gratteri, claimed.
Since Francis took office in April, he has made it clear that he intends to rid the Holy See of its corrupt ways and clean up the notorious Vatican bank, long used by money launderers.
He immediately dispatched the chairman of the IOR bank Gotti Tedeschi and subsequently forced his own number two Cardinal Bertone, who had been accused of corruption, into retirement.
In one of his first sermons as Pope he took aim at the mafia calling on them to repent for "exploiting and enslaving people".
And earlier this week in his most impassioned sermon to date, the pontiff said that officials who took bribes should be "tied to a rock and thrown in the sea".
Dr Gratteri said the members of the Calabrian Ndrangheta mafia are concerned by Pope Francis's crusade against corruption, "wearing his iron crucifix, as he rails against worldly goods and plans a total clean up".
He told the Italian newspaper: "Those that are in the financial arms of the mafia are concerned by Pope Francis, yes.

Those who until now have been feeding off the wealth and power that comes directly from the Church are agitated and nervous."Mafia Going to Assassinate Pope Francis in Response to His Anti-Corruption Sermons
Pope Francis speaks to Archbishop Georg Ganswein as he arrives in St. Peter's Square
He added: "Papa Bergoglio is dismantling the centres of economic power in the Vatican. If the bosses could take him down they would not hesitate."
The prosecutor admitted that the mafia would not necessarily be capable of such a strike, with the Vatican security services some of the best in the world.
"I do not know if organised criminal gangs are in a position to do something, but they are certainly considering it. It's a dangerous time for Pope Francis."
In recent years, the Ndrangheta, based in Calabria, the "toe" of Italy, has become the largest, richest and most feared of the country's three main criminal organisations.
Specialising in cocaine trafficking, the Ndrangheta controls some 80 percent of the market in Europe and has invested its profits in northern Italy, Germany and the US.
They have forged links with terrorist organisations worldwide and the drug cartels of South America.
Meanwhile, according to the 14th annual survey from the Global Language Monitor, a Texas-based company that tracks top talkers on the web, the Pope is now the most talked-about person on the planet.
More people are chatting about the Pope online than Edward Snowden, Kate Middleton and Miley Cyrus.
The organisation based its analysis on English-language blogs, social media and 275,000 electronic and online news media.
Besides being the Internet's top name, the Pope's Twitter handle @Pontifex was the fourth most talked about word in 2013.
The top three words were: '404' - the numeric code for a broken web-page; 'fail' and 'hashtag'.
