7 injured as fire guts 3-storey building in Lagos

No fewer than seven persons sustained different degrees of injuries when fire gutted the last floor of a three storey residential building situated at 7A, Obadina Street,Lagos Island, lagos around 3pm on Saturday.
An unconfirmed report revealed that the fire was caused by a girl who was trying to cook with a stove in her room.
Eye witness said, “we were watching football match in front of the building when someone perceived smoke and we
immediately went upstairs to check, only to find a room in flame and the children from that room running away. So I cannot specifically say it was the stove that caused the fire.”
DailyPost gathered that before the arrival of men of the Fire Service, neighbours trying to assist to rescue people trapped in the building where badly injured when some blocks caved in during the operation.
However, the timely arrival of the Fire Service men from Orile, Onikan and
Ajah areas of the state were commended by residents of the area for their quick response that saved the situation as flames were already spreading to adjacent buildings on the street before their arrival.
It was learnt that the fire was eventually put off around 4.45pm while men from the Police force and Community Development Association secured the place from hoodlums.
Officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service,LASAMBUS gave first aid treatment to the injured persons and were later taken to Lagos General Hospital for proper medical treatment.
