Buhari at 70: CPC celebrates

Leading opposition party, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has announced that its leader, General Muhammadu Buhari will clock 70 on Monday.
In a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the party said “The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) is pleased to inform all Nigerians (at home and abroad) that General Muhammadu Buhari (GMB) shall, on Monday, 17th December, 2012, attain three scores and
ten years in his Earthly sojourn thus far. For us in the Party and the numerous admirers (across the Geo ethnic divide of the Nigerian State), this is an auspicious time to celebrate an admirable Nigerian
Patriot, whose values remain a rarity in a clime bedeviled with sleazy and hopelessly selfish leaders.”
The part further affirmed thus “It is noteworthy that the trajectory of GMB’s public service – which traversed various capacities such as Military Commander, State Governor, Federal Minister, Head of Petroleum Trust Fund and also Head of State – undoubtedly revealed unrivalled honesty, probity and judicious governance of funds and trust.
This aptly explains why the GMB persona continues to attract true Patriots across the ethno-religious divides in our Nation. Quite admirable also is his unflinching belief in the rule of Law! He, owing to the rule-for-ever stance of the Political Powers in the land, was crudely robbed three times at the Presidential elections; GMB did not resort to self-help but headed to the Law Courts.”
The statement concluded that “We cannot forget in a hurry the timeless admonition of GMB to the nation in January, 1984: “This Generation of Nigerians, and indeed, future generations, have no country other than Nigeria. We shall remain here and salvage it together.” Whilst wishing GMB a successful entry into the privileged club of Septuagenarians, we pray for more meritorious service, with undiminished passion and tenacity, for the Fatherland.”
