Tragedy: Truck kills eight secondary school students in Ogun State


It was a festival of tears and lamentation in Itori village of Ogun State, when a granite-carrying truck rammed into students who were on their way from school on Wednesday.
DailyPost gathered that about eight students of Itori Comprehensive High School, located in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State were feared dead in the ghastly accident.
An eyewitness said the truck, with registration number LAGOS XZ 628 AKD was coming from Abeokuta along the old Lagos – Abeokuta Road when it suddenly swerved off the road.
He added that security and rescue officials arrived very late to the accident scene.
The accident however stirred up violence which left several vehicles and property destroyed by angry mobs in the area.
The Itori Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Fatai Bakare, confirmed the accident adding that the driver had been handed over to the police.
DailyPost however gathered that the remains of the victims have been evacuated and an Armoured Personnel Carrier belonging to the Ogun State Police force was stationed in the area to restore peace and order.
