President Goodluck Jonathan is still studying the petition sent to him by embattled governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Dr. Ahmed Gulak has said.
Mr. Amaechi had written the petition to the president in the wake of the fracas that broke out in the Rivers State House of Assembly last week Tuesday in which he explained what happened and the role of the police among others. Copies of the petition were sent to the Senate President, David Mark; Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; and the Police Service Commission (PSC), headed by former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro.
However, following speculation in some quarters that the President will dump the petition upon receipt, his political adviser debunked the insinuation, reiterating his earlier stand that Mr. Jonathan will work on the petition.
Gulak said despite the media hype that surrounded the submission of the petition on Saturday, the President only got a copy on Wednesday.
