PDP Raises Alarm Over Plan By Edo Govt. To Sell Edo Line Transport •“Go To Hell!” – Gov. Oshiomhole

Adams-OshiomholeThe Edo State chapter of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has raised the alarm over moves by Governor Adams Oshiomhiole to sell the highly valued Edo Transport Company Limited.
This was disclosed by the State PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih while speaking to party supporters at a campaign rally held in Uromi, headquarters of Esan northeast council area, weekend ahead of the October 22, 2013 rescheduled local government rerun election in the area and eight other wards in three other council areas of the state.
However, in a swift reply yesterday, the State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Isimemen Iriogwe, said, “The PDP people are all liars. There is nothing like that. The governor set up the panel to look at various options and come up with ways to reposition the company among which is on ways to pay the arrears of salaries owed workers of Edo line”.
In a very terse reaction to the allegation, the governor’s special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Prince Kassim Afegbua said, “The PDP should go to hell. When they ran the state for several years what did they do?”
The domestic transport firm, formerly known as Armels Transport Company, was purchased from its then foreign owners by the military administration of Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia of the old Midwestern region, who later changed the name to Midwest Line and later Edo Line.
But Mr. Orbih, who called on Governor Oshiomhole to allow officials of EDSIEC conduct free, fair and credible polls if indeed he is an apostle of one man, one vote said, “It is no longer news that Adams Oshiomhole wants to sell Edo house in Lagos but what is news is what I want to tell you; you are aware that for some time now you can no longer travel from this state to any state with Edo Line. Adams Oshiomhole, we have very strong information that he has concluded the process of selling Edo Line.”
According to him, “Two weeks ago, he set up a special panel (committee) headed by the commissioner for transport with four others to put in place what they are owing in Edo Line and what they need to pay to enable him sell Edo Line. Edo Line was established by Ogbemudia very many years ago. Successive governments in Edo state have continued to maintain that outfit.”
“We have properties in Port Harcourt, Abuja, Lagos and everywhere even in Kano. Those properties are part of what he wants to sell.”
“He has brought a company that bought Iyoba primary school to assess what it can pay for Edo Line headquarters so that he will establish another Chop Rite. What type of government do we have in Edo state today? Edo people are now beginning to know the man Adams Oshiomhole”, the PDP chairman said.
