BREAKINGNEWS: PDP or its Chairman cannot declare defectors seats vacant – Federal High Court Abuja

Dr Bukola Saraki has this to say few minutes after the ruling:

Delighted about the ruling delivered today by Justice A R Mohammed of the Federal High Court Abuja court No.7 concerning who has the authority or power to declare vacant, the seats of those of us from National Assembly who defected from PDP to APC. The judge in his ruling maintained that PDP as a party and or its party chairman has no such authority to declare our seats vacant as that decision can only be made by the court. In view of the fact that the matters are still before the court, the judge said, it is only the court that so hold such power. This is again, democracy in action and the rule of law we are yearning for has been sustained.
