Four Jailed For Breaking Environmental Laws In Delta State

No fewer than four persons were, yesterday, sentenced to two weeks imprisonment by a mobile court sitting in Udu, Udu Local Government Area, Delta State for contravening the state environmental laws.
Thirty-five others who were convicted by the court, were slammed with fines, ranging from N500 to N1,000 while three others were released on health grounds.
At the special environmental sanitation exercise in the area, the state Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare, charged Deltans to imbibe the culture of keeping their environment clean. He said the convictions would serve as deterrent to others.
