Buhari, regarded as the most potent opposition figure to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having contested against all its presidential candidates since 2003, is not a regular caller at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) national leader, who has often posited that he was rigged out of all the presidential elections, boycotted all events at the Presidential Villa.
The President said the presence of Buhari impressed him so much that he asked the former leader to join him in lighting up the centenary torch.
Jonathan said, “When the celebration was packaged and that day when I got there, I was impressed, especially when I saw the former Heads of State, including Gen. Buhari.
“He came that day and that was why I said the two of us should light up the unity torch and I think it was something nice.”
