"Daniel Forced Me Into Exile For Eight Years" - Osoba

A former Ogun State Governor, Segun Osoba, on Thursday gave reasons why he stayed off the state for eight years after he left office in 2003. He disclosed that his successor, Gbenga Daniel, had plots against him.

Mr. Osoba revealed this at the commissioning of the first flyover and pedestrian bridge constructed by the present administration located at Ibara-Totoro axis of Abeokuta, the state capital.
Mr. Osoba was Ogun State Governor from 1999 to 2003. He lost the 2003 elections to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Gbenga Daniel, who became his successor.
He said Mr. Daniel, then of the PDP, was full of devilish thought against him, hence his decision to stay away from the state in the interest of his life and of his family.
"There was a government which does not want my face. There was a government which does not want Alake of Egbaland to be. There was a government which does not want Tinubu to be given chieftaincy title in Egbaland," the Action Congress of Nigeria leader stated.
He also noted that it was only Mr. Daniel that was not in attendance among all former military and civilian former governors of the state at the commissioning ceremony, stressing that his absence is an indication of his antecedents.
However, the former governor said he is happy that the state is peaceful under the administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the Action Congress of Nigeria, saying the governor is following the party’s manifesto.
