Gunmen abduct mother of leader of Bayelsa House of Assembly

The mother of the Leader of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Akpe has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Madam Esther Akpe, 59, was abducted on Tuesday night by a group of men who invaded her home at the riverside Ebedebiri community in Sagbama local government area of the state.
The men who were said to be five in number came in a speedboat, shot sporadically in the air to scare away the natives before taking her away.
According to a source: “The abductors were about five and heavily armed. The old woman was sitting outside. She was about going into the house on hearing the sound of gunshots when they seized her and took her away into their speedboat and headed towards Bomadi in Delta State.”
Several staff of the House of Assembly were reportedly seen on Wednesday gathered at the premises discussing the incident.
The troubled Leader of the House, Hon Akpe confirmed the incident but said no contact had been established with the kidnappers.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Fidelis Odunna (DSP) confirmed the the incident. He said; “The mother of Hon Peter Akpe, Leader, Bayelsa House of Assembly was kidnapped at Ebedebiri community. The kidnappers reportedly moved towards Bomadi and our men are on their trail.”
