PDP deputy national officers passes vote of confidence on Tukur

By

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur
The power tussle in the leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, took a new twist on Tuesday as all the deputy national officers of the party gathered to pass a vote of confidence on National Chairman Bamanga Tukur.
The group under the aegis of Deputies to PDP National Officers after a breakfast meeting with Tukur, said the parley which was at their own instance, was to deliberate on issues affecting the ruling party.
Senator Umar Tsauri, PDP Deputy National Auditor who led the team, described the meeting as “very fruitful”.
He restated their total support for Tukur’s management of the party, adding that he remains the best man for the job.
“Today we told the National Chairman of the party of his leadership capabilities and the way he manages crisis and we are confidence in his style of leadership.
“Our meeting with him was fruitful and we discuss the development of the party. We pass a vote of confidence on him.”
Many believe the move is a ploy by Tukur to tighten his grip on the party’s executive committee in the aftermath of Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s removal as National Secretary.
While ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo and most Governors are backing ousted Oyinlola, the presidency and some party bigwigs are supporting Tukur.
