“We are not favourites, Nigeria has a strong team” – Yaya Toure

By

Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure, has insisted that they are not favourites to win the Africa Cup of Nations. Toure and his compatriots will file out against Nigeria on Sunday and bookmakers have heavily tipped them to defeat the Super Eagles and go on to lift the trophy.
“We’re not favourites because the Nations Cup is a very tough competition, may be the favourites are Nigeria and Burkina Faso, but not the Ivory Coast,” The Manchester City player said.
“It will be tough in this quarterfinal and so we have to work very hard to go as far as possible and do something very important this year.
Yaya Toure has faced some Nigerian players in the English Premier League and knows about their qualities and as such is not expecting an easy game.
He said: “Nigeria is a strong team, they have Obi Mikel, (Victor) Moses, they are fantastic players
“We’re ready for the game. I don’t want to talk about the match, but the most important thing is the game itself on Sunday.”
In five previous meetings with Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria has won twice and drawn once.
