Gun Battle At Kawo Tishama Check-point Leaves Two Policemen Dead

Gunmen shot and killed two police officers and injured two civilians Monday in a bold drive-by shooting at a police check-point.
The fatal shooting took place at Kawo Tishama in the outskirt of Kano metropolis. An eyewitness in Kano who pleaded for anonymity said that the incident occurred around 4:00 pm.

According to the witness, the gunmen were riding on a Tricycle popularly known as ‘A Daidaita Sahu’ when they arrived at the area and opened fire on some policemen who were manning a check-point.

 When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident.

 ‘’Two of our policemen were gunned down while two civilians were injured during the gun battle between the gunmen and our men,” he said, adding that one or more of the suspects escaped with bullet injuries.

He said that security operatives were quickly mobilised to the scene of the incident pointing out that security had been beefed up in the area to effect arrest of the suspects.

‘’Investigation into the incident has also commenced’’, Majiya said.
