Gunmen kill 7-month-old baby, 2 police officers in Kaduna

Two police officers and a seven-month-old baby, Little Fatima, were killed by stray bullets, during an attack launched on a police checkpoint in Kaduna, on Friday night by unknown Gunmen.
Little Fatima was buried amid tears in the family’s cemetery in Kaduna North LGA on Saturday.
The baby who was being carried on her elder sister’s back as at the time of the incident, died when a stray bullet went right into her skull, and pierced through her elder sister’s arm, local media report.
“Fatima and Munira were standing at the nearby pharmacy opposite the police checkpoint. They were caught in the line of fire, and a Bullet went through Munira’s shoulder and hit Fatima, who was on her back,on the head,” Baba, Fatima’s older brother, said.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the Gunmen rode on motorcycles randomly, spraying police officers at the check point in Kawo-Rafinguza junction, Kaduna. Two police men died immediately while the others were lucky.
Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Area, Samaila Suleiman, who was at the burial consoled the family with promises of a better security.
