For refusing to be flown abroad for medical treatment following his involvement in a ghastly auto crash recently, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri, has disclosed plans by the agency to confer Citizens Responsibility Recognition Award on Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi State.Omeri said the agency decided to confer the honour on Wada for his confidence in the nation’s medical institutions and doctors.
He called on all Nigerians to imbibe the culture of receiving treatments locally, saying Gov. Wada’s action stood-out and demonstrated to Nigerians the capacity of our medical sector, as his action should be worthy of emulation by Nigerians.
In a letter to Wada, Omeri said: “We are delighted by your action which will encourage more Nigerians to patronise our local health facilities”.
The NOA boss further urged Nigerians to pray for Wada’s quick recovery after his surgery following the crash, and also commiserated with the families who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate accident.
Information Nigeria reports that Wada was involved in a car crash on December 28, 2012 around Jingbe, just before Salem University (along Lokoja-Ajaokuta road) while returning from Ayingba and refused entreaties to be flown abroad for treatment preferring instead to be treated at the Cedar Crest Hospital, Garki, Abuja.
