Special Prayers Held In Honour Of Late Sir Ahmadu Bello In Sokoto


ahmadu_bello_-sardaunaJust as the nation was commemorating the Armed Forces Day yesterday,January 15, a special prayer session was held in Sokoto state in honour of Premier of Northern Nigeria and Sardaunan Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello who was assassinated in the bloody coup of January 15, 1966.
The prayer session took place at Sultan Bello Mosque at Kanwuri in Sokoto and was presided over by Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Sheikh Buhari Sirridawa.
Governor Aliyu Wamakko was represented by his commissioner for budget and economic planning, Alhaji Bala Hassan while Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, was represented by Alhaji Mu’azu Muhtasibi.
The special prayer session was organised at the instance of the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN), Sokoto.
Speaking, acting managing director of the company, Engineer Yusuf Binji, recalled that the late premier established the cement firm over 50 years ago.

“The company has survived progressively and successfully since that time on up till today. This is a very lasting legacy. Governor Aliyu Wamakko had in November 2012 during the 50th anniversary of the firm advised us to organize the prayer and we thank God that we are able to do it today”, he said
