Battle for 2015: Mimiko, Agunloye, Oyinlola, Obada, Fayose, other PDP stalwarts meet at Okuku

Sun News (2012): Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and two former governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti and Osun states, Mr Ayodele Fayose and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola respectively held a private meeting at the weekend at the Okuku home of Oyinlola. Although details of the meeting were not made public as journalists were barred from Oyinlola’s living room in his private residence in Okuku, venue of the meeting, it was gathered that the meeting, which was at the instance of Oyinlola might not be unconnected with politics of the South- West states.
While Fayose was removed from office in 2006, Oyinlola was removed as the governor of Osun State following a judgment of the Court of Appeal, Ibadan, which nullified the election that produced him and declared Aregbesola winner of the election. Both Oyinlola, Fayose and Mimiko met at the weekend alongside other top politicians in the South-West geo-political zone after the launch of Oba Moses Oyinlola Foundation in Okuku, hometown of Oyinlola. The foundation was founded by Oyinlola in honour of his late father, Oba Moses Oyinlola, who was a former traditional ruler of the town.
Other politicians, who attended the meeting were, Dr Olu Agunloye, a former governorship aspirant in Ondo State on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Jide Adeniji, the Chairman, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Chief Adejare Bello, immediate past speaker, Osun State House of Assembly.
Also at the meeting were the Minister of State for Defence, Mrs Olushola Obada, former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Osun State chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, among others. Describing his late father as an epitome of humility and lover of his people, Oyinlola said his family decided to lay the foundation for the continuity of the good legacy left behind by his father who died 52 years ago.
“Let me tell you, the late Oba Moses Oyewole Oyinlola was committed to the service of humanity, cause of education and development of his community and we felt that, even when he passed on, we would not want the legacy of the man to perish and the only way we can do that is to embark on the launch of a foundation in his honour and that will become a reference point for generation yet unborn, even when we too might have gone,” he added.
Oyinlola, who is the National Secretary of the PDP, urged Nigerians to support the review of the 1999 Constitution, stressing that “what should be paramount to the people on the constitution was to allow its provision to work irrespective of political differences.”
