Local officials have been quoted as saying at least four persons have been killed in riots that erupted in central Nigeria after a man was killed at an illegal check point.
Isiaku Adamu, local government chairman said rioters torched houses and shops Sunday in Ibi, about 140 miles (230 kilometers) from the Taraba state capital of Jalingo.
Adamu said Christian worshippers had put up the checkpoint to stop radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram from nearing their church during the Sunday service as a response to church attacks in other parts of the country by the terrorist group.
