We Do Not Owe Pensioners – Head Of Civil Service

Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation on Thursday said it did not owe pensioners their last November and December pension allowances.
The Head of Service, Alhaji Isa Sali, through the OHCSF Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Tope Ajakaiye, said this in an interview with our correspondent while reacting to a claim by the Association of Federal Public Service Retirees that the office underpaid its members.
According to Sali, the OHCSF is committed to a transparent pension payment exercise.
He said, “The OHCSF took over the payment of monthly pensions in November 2012 in line with the new Federal Government’s policy on public financial management reform and the new Government Integrated Financial Management Information System being implemented through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
“Pensioners with genuine complaints have been asked to make their complaints to the Pensions Office in the OHCSF or their state councils of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners. The NUP is fully aware of the new payment system and is being fully carried along by the OHCSF.
“Ultimately, the Federal Government is going towards the gradual implementation of the aspect of the Pension Reform Act 2004, which makes provision for the establishment of a Pension Transitional Arrangement Department under the supervision of PENCOM.”
Some pensioners on Wednesday stormed the FCT Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Abuja, protesting against what they described as “unholy” manner with which the OHCSF was interfering with their pensions.
