West Brom reject Odemwingie’s transfer request

By

Osaze OdemwingieA transfer request from Peter Osaze Odemwingie, has been rejected by West Brom.
The Nigerian has been subject of interest from Queens Park Rangers and it has been rumoured that Harry Redknapp is preparing a bid for the 31-year-old.
However, the club have confirmed that they have thrown out his request to leave and will not sell Odemwingie.
“Peter is hugely popular with our supporters and it is disappointing that he has decided to hand in a transfer request,” Sporting and technical director, Richard Garlick said. “It was immediately turned down and has done nothing to change our stance during January.
“Peter is under contract until the summer of 2014 and we have no need or desire to sell our core players.
“We want to keep the squad intact to enable us to build on an encouraging first six months of the season.”
Odemwingie moved to West Brom from Lokomotiv Moscow for £2m in 2010 and has scored five times this season.
