During a recent blogger panel discussion on "Super Soul Sunday," up-and-coming spiritual teachers Gabrielle Bernstein, Marie Forleo and Mastin Kipp agreed that there's a strong yearning in today's young women for a deeper connection with the world around them. "I think there's this unconscious sense of urgency," says Bernstein. "Like, 'I need to do this not for me but for something greater.' They may not be able to put that into words, but they're experiencing that."
Forleo says that these women want more than just a paycheck. "They want to make a difference," she says.
It's a trend that Kipp says he's also starting to see with men on his site, TheDailyLove.com. "I think the reason why there is a sense of urgency is because we really are in the middle of an existential crisis," he says. "There are a lot of guys who read The Daily Love and subscribe to what we do. It's funny because all the girls are like, 'Who are they? Who are they?' because women are wanting more awake men right now."
